  1. And the Carousel of Progress, (GE) which wound up at Disney. The wonderful things it showed in our future, like being able to talk to and see Grandma on a screen. It seemed like an impossible dream back then!
  2. Lord have mercy! I caught up again! I responded to posts, and then realized too late that my response is days late, when everyone has totally forgotten what I’m responding to! But I’m here and will try to keep up better! We leave for Maine Wednesday, and will stop for 3 nights instead if our normal 2. I bought on EBay 2 LP Bloopers records. I had those records for decades, and gave all of my records away when we downsized to a condo. I’m having a local recording studio create CDs (if I haven’t already told you) and the gentleman promised them for yesterday. Now he says hopefully Monday. I wanted them for the car when we’re sitting in stop and go traffic on 95! I thought they were hilarious 40 years ago; I hope I haven’t outgrown them! Also bringing one of my old Jeopardy books so we can do trivia when we’re tired of music. I have picked out Neil Diamond, Barbra Streisand, John Denver, etc for me, and lots of old country for Dick. Anything to keep us both awake, him so he can drive, and me to keep him in our lane and following my instructions!
  3. We sat on the curb at the World’s Fair to eat our Belgian Waffles. First ones we ever had and they were loaded with whipped cream and strawberries. For once, the taste was even better than anticipated!
  4. I hope we see more photos. Club Med looks meticulously maintained. I’ll bet you all enjoyed the water! When your son and his family move to the Netherlands, it will be hard, but thank goodness for all of the ways we have now to communicate. You will miss being with then as often, but you can still see and talk to them!
  5. Just what I was thinking. Our family welcomes everyone with open hearts, but we need for the newcomers to also have open hearts. I think sometimes strangers get on the wrong bus!
  6. I never worried about it before, but I’m older now, and after the cave experience, I am more apprehensive than I used to be.
  7. Thanks for implanting the seed! I will have my first MRI in several years at the end of July. I thought I couldn’t have one and was going to have to have another colonoscopy instead, but my electrophysiologist said my pacemaker is MRI compatible. I was never given music, I just listened to the clanking and banging and told myself a story. Now I have to hope I haven’t become claustrophobic. I already could never do caves!
  8. Hope whatever you decide works, and works pretty fast! You’re lucky your brother can help you decide what’s best!
  9. Joe Farcus was a graduate of the University of Florida, which might have influenced his taste. He designed the interiors of Carnival ships for years and years, the gaudier the better! He retired in 2012, so the newer ships must have a different vibe. Maybe!
  10. You have all of the joy of a new home! I think the fireplace is absolutely perfect, and so is the kitchen. The microwave worked out beautifully, perfect height, and the creative vent puts it over the top! Any cook would love the kitchen, and a non-cook would be inspired to begin!
  11. Princess is more like sailing on a ship rather than a floating hotel. It doesn’t have the bells and whistles Royal has. That said, they have better itineraries, and definitely a bigger presence in Alaska. We prefer Princess’s food, and their longer itineraries. For activities and entertainment, Royal wins.
  12. The toilet paper is made the way it is so it won’t stop up the labyrinth of pipes.
  13. Oh the things you’ll miss if you move!! On the other hand, we’ll get to see the sights of a different part of Australia, so your moving might benefit the rest of us!!!
  14. What a sad but uplifting story! It’s so hard to see young people suffering, and so amazing to see how courageous they are, even at very young ages. We can learn so much from them.
  15. Dick thinks everything that isn’t red is blue. Thank goodness he finally checks with me before going out the door.
  16. Casa Monica is a wonderful choice! I paid hopefully my last ever speeding ticket there when it was used for city offices. such a waste that was of a beautiful building.
  17. There’s a Facebook group Augie Eats with reviews of local restaurants. Harry’s is close to your hotel and very good.
