  1. Part of the problem is they've been lax in the past so people feel entitled. I also think the wish to get onboard early isn't helped by the panic about booking entertainment and speciality dining. Personally I have no issue with a late time to board as I live very nearby, others will feel very different.
  2. Nobody wanted to jump the queue, it was just an observation they came in one car (some 4 hour journey) which was left with me and they then took the short train journey. As the trains have been having some problems they didn't want to risk the 4.30 cut off, particularly with my nephew never having cruised before except for when he was a small child.
  3. But you do pre register your cruise card and upload your photo so just have to show travel documents and boarding pass?
  4. No aircraft availability as the plane wasn't available for the incoming flight due to technical problems.
  5. You're very lucky with TUI. The tales of whoa on the P&O fly cruises this past season are numerous with cancellations, changed planes with no entertainment and lengthy delays being a theme. My husband flew to Salzburg mid March on a ski package, flight delayed 1 1/2 hours, my last two TUI flights to Greece also over an hour delay. The annual lateness chart from Which? placed TUI at number 3, a very disappointing performance. Hopefully it will be better this year but I'm not holding my breath as they've already changed the aircraft on my outward July flight to Kefalonia and refunded my seating as the aircraft's a different configuration. Currently 5/10 on Skytrax for past 4 months which is better than this time last year.
  6. We never even have a boarding time for our fly cruises, probably because last two years TUI haven't managed to get the flights anywhere near on time!
  7. From speaking to them the other day, I get the impression that because Iona in particular and now Arvia haven't been sailing full until recently they haven't needed to be too strict. Now however they're dealing with 5-6000 people they're having to be strict simply because there's nowhere to put them unless they stand in a long queue outside. The young lady also mentioned there are so many sailing now entitled to priority boarding under the Peninsular Club that quite simply on ships the size of Iona and Arvia they overrun as well, something that hasn't ever happened with the other vessels and this then impacts the coach arrivals, many people on board have been travelling for long hours. It was an interesting perspective I'd never needed to think of as it's a quick 25 minutes for me either being dropped off, on the train or at a pinch a free bus ride with my bus pass. I guess I'll find out as both my Iona and Arvia upcoming cruises are showing as sold out. It may be myb4.00pm might be a blessing, we shall see.
  8. I've been given 4.00pm! If you ring P&O the new voice assistant tells you quite firmly that times can't be changed and when I got through to someone they confirmed it. I'm also told they're being very firm about it - they split my family last week making some wait nearly three hours with no leeway. Good luck in trying.
  9. Yes, it was my nephew's first "grown up" cruise and he had his new wife with him as well. Luckily it was good weather. They did like the cruise though. As my new eyes, any idea how to stop all these CC notifications flooding my inbox? Never had them before, don't like them and it's putting me off posting!
  10. With RC on Allure I've always been asked to select a time from a list of available slots, normally only 10 minutes apart. Same with MSC, Norwegian, Celebrity and Princess. Can't say about Cunard are I'm preferential with them. Time for P&O to catch up perhaps.
  11. I'll be a bit unhappy if I have to start paying for shuttles. I only booked the select on my Arvia cruise because I knew I'd need them. Interesting comment on Marseille about the state of the place - a building collapsed there last week!
  12. My BIL and his wife just got of Iona on Saturday. They boarded 1.00pm, their son and daughter in law not allowed on until 3.45. They were very upset as arrived in one car. BIL is very well known at Southampton port as he's quite high up at Hapag, it held no sway just go without them mate or wait with them.
  13. That may be it, thank you. It needed new eyes!
  14. Help! I've received and completed my assistance form and emailed it to accessibilty@carnivalukgroup.com but it keeps bouncing back as not a correct email. Have I got the wrong address and if so where should be sending it.
  15. Which cruises lines are we discussing here? Fred definitely moved to masks in January, reports on Cunard indicate they also do so when necessary. What other policies are in place elsewhere? Remember we do have this new variant spreading quite quickly, I'm surprised how many I know have had it recently round here.
  16. Yes, seems a shame about the venues going only to high tier guests. I do think a level playing field for all needs to be considered and have said previously I think that if buying in advance is no longer an option then booking for everything should not open onboard until all passengers are on. I also think on Britannia downwards block booking of Sindhu and Epicurean etc should not be allowed either in advance or onboard to give everyone a chance to try them. I know I'm an outlier on this though, but I do believe that everyone should have the opportunity to try everything when there's less choices for speciality on those ships. Iona and Arvia, well they're a law to themselves it seems! I'd assumed they would work like the big RC and MSC ships but that's definitely not happening. Rather than stressing I'll go with the flow, there's always room service!!!!
  17. Yes, that's what I'm getting at present. I'm not too stressed about all this, it's just developed as BillY assumed I was Caribbean. I think Tring is correct as she mentioned she too experienced the cruises not counting at one point. As I say the older cruises do show (when I can get in!) but they are marked ineligible and as they are around the period I wasn't cruising with P&O it would appear to be the gap years as discussed above. Although I cruise every year P&O were quite a away down my list at one point with Cunard, RCI and MSC featuring dar more because of my transatlantic crossings in particular. I'm not one to get hung up on status, it will come around at some point. Having said that I protect my Virgin Atlantic membership with gusto and wear my Cunard Diamond pin with pride!
  18. The cleanliness issue is of course subjective and what is acceptable to one may be totally disgusting to another. However there is a theme running through Arcadia about toilet issues, leaks etc which if you read the Cunard reviews of Queen Victoria's Christmas cruise are being regularly repeated. These two lovely ladies are one and the same having nearly been each other and I can't help but wonder if the long layups during the pandemic while they lazed around in Torbay might have exacerbated the situation in their systems. I'm not exactly old but two years of curtailed activities is taking a time to shake off and perhaps that might be happening here! Whatever after these people have spent a small fortune on a world cruise even one complaint on hygiene and health issues is one too many and hopefully will be taken seriously and necessary action put in place.
  19. That will still rule me out then as my boarding time is 4.00pm!!
  20. I've had this passport problem for years. I'm nearly 9 years into my current one yet P&O put in the number of the one before that and ironically they tell me it probably came across on the computer from Cunard account! In recent days I've lost my access to my cruise history as well, since I checked in my two soon departing cruises. Re the label issue, since the restart I'd been using my travel agent friend and the labels remained grey until 48 hous before sailing due to something internal in P&Os system stating there was a balance outstanding. These two last minute bargains I did direct with P&O on an impulse and labels appeared for printing immediately after I checked I. Could be coincidence but possibly the blitch is still there .
  21. That's very interesting, I'll look into it. I had assumed following speaking to P&O last year they had just dropped out. My aunt was Ligurian as they'd done 10 World cruises but as she'd not sailed P&O for 9 years when my uncle became ill and they lost a large world cruise deposit when I checked on her behalf I was told she'd gone back to Caribbean and her history shows exactly like mine with "not eligible" beside a swathe of sailings. Strangely her Princess status still counts everyone of her P&o cruises and she still ranks as one of their highest nights onboard guests. I cannot currently access my history on my account. Clicking past sailings just takes me to rewards page. Once it sorts itself I'll screenshot it and speak to them, it's not a crises and I'm not too worried about the status although the extra discount would be welcome on my excursions, having just forked out £305 for one in La Spezia!
  22. I believe Moley stated somewhere that single to single should only be one fee. Mind you looking at how many cruises are showing inside cabins unavailable there's either been a stampede of people taking them because they are being offered at silly money or lots of people are planning on trying their luck.
