  1. - Join your cruise's thread on this website and see if you can organize a group to go to the same beach /same snorkel trip. LOTS of people want to bring their stuff but are concerned about leaving things on the beach. If you go with a group, you can take turns watching one another's stuff. You'll have to determine your own comfort level.

This is GREAT advice I always join the cruise critic Roll Calls. I have meet some very nice people that way that I still am in contact with through Facebook.

Also if you are really into photography there are groups that cruise so you might look into that next time.

  2. ....

He did however tell me that it would be the TA that would have to take care of this.... now that I have advised her of my conversation she can assist. I think I'm going to book direct next time :D

I booked with a TA in the past but now I just go direct. Imho being able to pull your own strings is worth more than the few freebies I was able to get with a TA.

  3. First off, apologizes if this question should be in a new thread...

On Royal Caribbean / Independence of the Seas, Is lemonade free all day, or just in the morning? Can you get it anywhere or just in dining venues? I've read conflicting answers in different threads.

We don't drink enough to justify an alcohol package (I don't think... 😊) but I'm wondering about a pop (soda) package. Some posts have said you'd need to drink about a gallon of pop per day to justify the package, which is much more than I'd typically drink. Lemonade would be a fine substitute if it's free at anytime. We also drink a lot of water, so we figure we'll bring our own filter bottles.

    Thanks!

You are right this thread is about tipping.

If the link works this would be better information than I can give you. If the link doesn't work do a Google search royal caribbean lemonade cruise critic and I am sure you you can find an answer.

  4. I have read more about marriage requirements then I ever wanted. That being said Texas has as many marriage license fees as they have counties. Each county has its own fee. And once you get a license you can marry in any other county. The state also imposes a 60.00 fee unless you have had marriage counseling.

So I would assume that you are getting a license from a county that is charging less that you are seeing. They may be filing it so that the 3 day requirement is waived as well. As I have seen that Texas does require a 3 day waiting period. That might be what the additional 150 fee is for.

But then again they may just be quoting the lowest fee in Texas. Seeing as you are going to be married on the dock and not the boat and it is going to cost you 1500.00 and up if the 50.00 difference is an issue just get married the day before you leave in your home state by a justice of the peace.

If money isn't really the issue and you are looking for the experiance consider getting married at your own state by a judge or something so you would already be LEGALLY married then do a renewal of your vows onboard. Then you can do it AT SEA with the Captain.

    Lots of options to consider.

    Oh Congratulations.

  5. On one trip I decided to have one of the veggie burgers that many people have negatively commented about. They were all right- it was terrible. Most of it went into the garbage can.

I'm not a veterinarian but I still wanted to see what all the fuss was about.

I'll stick to the beef, thank you.:)

I have found veggie burgers are not bad if you sandwich it between 2 beef patties.

  6. If you plan on purchasing a drink "Alcohol" package the tip is figured into ythe price of the plan however if you seem to be patronizing the same watering hole with the same bartender a few buck here and there helps out. I normally do the palm the tip with the waitstaff and shake the hand of the drink server, my server and his/her assistant. Not sure if you just give it to your main server if anyone besides him/her will get anything.

  7. I just got back from a 5 day cruise on the Caribbean Princess. We purchased it at a table set up by the elevators. I was upset because they had free gifts for people who purchased a soda package (travel mug or cup with straw) but no gifts for the all inclusive which was the most expensive package. I felt for the money I spent I should get a free gift too!!

You were upset because you didn't get some kind of "free gift" with your drink package? Like what?

I understand what they were talking about. But the free gift is kinda inaccurate.

It seems that if you get a mug or a travel cup when you purchase the soda package so that you can use it for soda refills. then if you buy another package that includes soda that you should also get the mug or travel cup for soda refills. RCCL does so maybe Princess will as well at some point.

  8. The roll calls I have been involved with have did many things. Some do slot pulls. Those I am not interested in so I don't do. The gift exchange I do as the DW and I like to but others in the Meet and Mingle have opted out. those who opted out of it wasn't treated any different than the ones who did. And normally it is held last so those who didn't choose to do it can leave or stick around and watch.

    Either way have fun.

  9. I looked at that but it is not a surge protector… just a charger.

I bought the Belkin surge protector today through Amazon for $16.50 + 4.95 shipping.

    If you read the description.

Protections: Over-current, over temperature, Output short-circuit*

  10. Why do people fly from far and spend a ton of money to be inside a viewless box? If you are going to the Caribbean in the summer get the balcony!

First, I have to say I love your sign up name.

Now to comment on your post, the same could be said why do people fly from far and spend a ton of money to be inside a box at all? If you are going to the Caribbean, don't spend so much time in the room, get out and enjoy the sun and activities. The whole boat has a balcony. I don't have loads of money so I will be spending it on excursions and other stuff to make my vacation more enjoyable. It definitely won't be going towards a room.

It is all on what a person can afford to do. And by afford I mean as the money they can spend AND the time they can use. You have to balance it ALL out. If you are able to spend 5000.00 a year on cruising and able to spend 2 or more weeks doing it a balcony might not be the BEST option. However if your only able to spend a week or 10 days than it might be something to look at.

Personally I am a truck driver and I can only take at most 10 days off so I look for 7 day cruises. I save 100.00 a week and that gives us 5200.00 to spend so a balcony is what I look for. Hope that puts thing into a different perspective.

  11. Hopefully your experience is better than ours....my first time in an inside cabin was our New Years trip...2nd cruise that year so we did inside guarantee ...never again... inside cabin deck 2. Too dark...too low..vibration shook the whole cabin when going into the ports early am. I won't do inside again or the bottom of the boat...lol

Ok am I missing something? Your second cruise for the year but it was a New Year cruise so it would have been the first cruise of the year.
