  1. Okay. Just be aware that E2's on FR have 184 sq.ft. in the cabin, and I'm pretty sure (might be wrong) that square footage includes the bathroom and the closet. IMO it will be VERY crowded with two beds, two bedside tables, one coffee table, one side chair with the vanity table, one sofa or other seating PLUS two chairs and a small table from the balcony.

Well the chairs from the balcony can stack so it is only the floor space of 1 chair. And it is only while they are sleeping so I doubt it will be a problem.

  2. Balcony is a must for me...just that extra quiet personal outdoor space.

If you're even considering the switch to a balcony then that thought is in your mind...better to have done it than wish you would have.

    Enjoy, you'll love the FOS.

I agree if you are considering it then do it. Our first was an Oceanview all after that have been balcony.

We have our breakfast out there sometimes. Enjoy a drink and the view while getting ready for dinner. A nice quite personal space when you don't want to deal with all the people around the pools yet want to be outside. If the side your on is on the ported side you can watch the drunk-run from the balcony.

When we book cruises I always look at balcony prices. Although I have started looking at the mini suites and suites.

  3. In my experience I have never had a surge protector/power bar confiscated or unplugged. But than I only plug my phone chargers and laptop on it. I just take 1 power bar with me.

Like most things if you do not go overboard with it there shouldn't be a problem. Those who bring multiple bars and plug them into each other and have wires spiderwebed out from it creating a fire hazard get them removed.

Thanks for the info but I believe the question was more on how much a drink cost. ie.. a gin and tonic a martini or a beer.

This should give you a guide. Not sure when it was done my Internet connection isn't that great so just found something close.

  5. Can someone tell me whether on the So. Carib cruises they keep ship time or local time? thanks.

Best thing to do is set your watch phone or other timekeeping device to ship time that way if local time is different you will not get left in port. As you leave they have a large digital clock so you can double check.

  6. WOW, I've never run across anyone before who could make that claim! Yikes, that's way too many moves!

Well I can add Holland, England and Saudi Arabia. It was great during that period a move was like a couple suitcases. And no it wasn't because I was in the military. And now I am a truck driver so still traveling.:D:cool:

  7. It's funny, here in the South you wouldn't dream of not selling "sweet tea" in any restaurant. It's a given anywhere you go, from fast food to fine dining. But once you cross past a certain point toward the north, iced tea means plain unsweetened tea.

I love me some sweet tea but avoid it as I try not to drink too many calories these days. I'll get unsweet and add some Splenda. Luckily Splenda will mix with cold tea, unlike sugar

Well having grown up in Oklahoma and having lived in every state in the union I can say from the mid 80's to early 90's that in Florida, Georgia, Alabama Mississippi, Texas and we'll you get the picture at Denny's they only carried iced tea. Not sweet tea. However I will say at some small family owned restaurants they did offer sweet tea as well as iced tea.

But it is funny how tea changes as you cross the Mason - Dixie line.

  8. I am a type 2 diabetic and have cruised on a few ships. I have never had any problem getting sugar free drinks....... They also have sugar free iced tea available in the windjammer, that you can add Splenda to, If you want.

Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app

I got a chuckle out of this. I might be showing my age but there was a time when you ordered tea it came "sugar free" only. And it just said iced tea. Now sweet tea is a big thing but back then if you wanted sweet tea you either made it at home or had to add sugar to iced tea. Of course the sugar doesn't stir well in iced tea so you would end up with a lot of sugar in the bottom of the glass. Growing up on sweet tea then getting older and eating at restaurants it was a pain and I ended up just drinking plain iced tea to the point I can't stand sweet tea anymore.

Anyways I just thought sugar free tea was cute.

  9. On my last sailing on Allure, I noticed a few odd looking structures placed around the ship. Some of them look like large copper telescopes, aiming down into the ground (As if they were resting on their lenses). The others look like silver view-finders, again looking down into the ground.

If you go look into these things, you find some wonderful works of art hidden inside.

They are called Small Wonders and yes they are on both ships not sure if they are the same or in the same place. There is a plaque located around them to tell you what you are looking at. In your photo you can even see the plaque on the base of one. If my memory serves We found over 40 on the Oasis.

  10. Hotel rooms don't tend to have looooong narrow corridors with 40, 50 or more rooms all in one long row. It's in no way a need, but it means you don't have to pay attention to numbers as you walk back to your room, and it's fun to see other people's decorations.

I totally agree with the... it's fun to see other people's decorations.

  11. We are from DC, so I think I'll try to find a large number of magnets that depict this area and put them on the door. Since I've read that sometimes the magnets go missing, I'll just consider them my gift to a fellow traveller who will go home with a souvenir from Washington DC. :)

Now if everyone who cruised had an attitude like you it would be a much better place.

  12. Really? I don't recall. Maybe 2 or 3 but 5%??

Well... STILL BETTER than paying 28% APR on your credit card for a cash advance. OR $5 for ship's ATM charge plus whatever your bank charges for not using their ATM.

You never know what some islands have to offer or how far you may need to go for cash. Also, believe it or not I have been on board a ship & the ATM was out of service.

    Thanks for the update.

Me I just carry enough cash that I don't have to worry about it. I keep my tip, play and spending money separate. And for any large purchases I always have credit cards and if they don't take credit cards then I didn't need it. But that's just me

  13. Get $2 Bills from the bank and use them to tip - The crew will remember you!

So the great 2.00 debate someone is trying to start. I have seen 3 threads that had post deleted and the thread locked because the great 2.00 debate started.

But as to that I did ask on my latest cruise and they have no problem taking 2.00 bills they just deposit them with the rest of their cash tips. No muss no fuss. I even had one ask me if I had one they wanted it as a souvenir. And that is all I have to say to on this thread on the 2.00 debate.

  14. I had a question for all of you who have cruising experience with RCI...they allow passengers to bring 2bottles of wine onboard...do you think I would be permitted to bring two medium plastic jugs of grape juice (welchs)? I know its weird but my thought was 'it's pretty much non-alcoholic wine' Does anyone think I will have any issue with that?

Depends on who is passing you thru how they slept the night before the weather time of year and what your zodiac sign is. Worse case is they will keep it and never give it back or they could let you take it onboard or anything in between.

There is not really a yes or no answer. Just a maybe.

  15. The phone trick works well at home when answering the door and you are not expecting anybody. If it's someone soliciting and you don't want to talk just tell them sorry you're on the phone.

I bring white noise maker too. Its a sound soother you can get in a baby dept. Is small and travels well.

I just downloaded a free white noise app for my phone

  16. Compman: I am a Brit. I live in both cultures and I think you are being a tad rude yourself with your comment above. Again, I disagree with you re, your take on cultural norms. There are rude people in all cultures. One more point: If I am in a different culture, I do not expect that culture to change for me. I try to adapt. I suggest you do the same.

Just got off Oasis of the Seas. I did not eat at Windjammer but did go look. During busy times they had a host for lack of a better word at the door. They would only let people in if a table was ready. And I bet that would offend someone.
