  1. Did you take public or private Vaporetto? I know private is more expensive but after flying from SFO it sounds like a good option.
  2. We have a port day in Opatija. Many of the excursions are to places 75-90 min away. We are not excursion/bus travelers. Does anyone have experience with Opatija. I am seeing that it appears to be a seaside resort but not sure if there is much history to explore. I would appreciate any input as. To whether this is a good port to DIY for a full day, or whether we should look at grabbing an Uber to a nearby place…..any suggestions welcome! Thanks!
  3. Just seems to me that there are cruises truly designed for multigenerational- such as Disney. There are things to do and places to go for all ages. Some are kid feee and some are not. Some have activities geared for kids and teens. Some do not. I would think that the kids themselves would enjoy a variety of activities geared towards them more than an environment gr=eared only towards adults. I would also think that the other generations would enjoy having that as well. Viking, Virgin, Uniworld, do not allow kids. Big selling point. I just fail to see what the attraction would be for any of the party within the multi generation to bring littles on Silver Sea, Regent, Seabourn, etc. drron - that is nothing short of irritating and quite honestly unacceptable. All others shouldn’t have to put up with bad behavior regardless of age. The adults in that circumstance are responsible for their littles behavior. And truly. Have you even seen a child be able to be quiet in a pool? Virtually impossible. And although I love watching my grandkids playing in the pool, I don’t want that on my vacation on a ship.
  4. Wow. Well that sure seems like something that Seabourn could/should rectify, but good information to have. That would be frustrating as DH needs cpap outlet and we need additional for phones, etc.
  5. This is all sound advice. We always book international early. This year the prices never did go down but sure stayed in the stratosphere they were in 10-11 months out to Venice. My question refers to the comment about waiting until the deviation window opens. I am not sure what that is. For miles or miles plus dollars it is 330 days. It this what what you are referencing jed_bud?
  6. Thank you. Now I just need to find adapters that support multiple USB C. Appreciate the responses here
  7. I totally agree and one of the reasons I asked. I ordered a universal adapter that was recommended and it does not appear to have an option for our hotel in Italy. It has options for two or three prongs, however the two prongs appear to be for US outlets. So I think I need to look further. It got me thinking about what the outlets on Quest will be. We haven’t sailed since C and adapters appear to be much more compact than the bulky ones we have from the past.
  8. Deal is sealed. No Atlas for me. Thank you for your fair comparisons. I will stick Seabourn and Viking. I am also looking at Regent, Oceania, Azamara for 2024. As I said, know Viking well. Will sail Seabourn next month. Oceania, Azamara, and Regent each have a Med itinerary that interests me for April.
  9. Do you need to decide when you book, or as with other lines, you can decide afterwards but prior to final payment? Also, good to know that credit is based on when you book. Thanks again!
  10. Thank you. We avoid traveling during school holidays, or if during spring break time, sail on lines that do not cater to or on lines that do not allow kids. Just a personal choice of travel. Again, we love kids, but experienced sailing with them in the past and prefer to avoid when possible.
  11. Thank you. Interesting pricing and good to know ahead of time
  12. I am honestly curious. In looking at Azamara and Regent I seem to find that Club Continent Suites on A are similarly priced to a number of others that are more ‘luxury marketed’. I have no loyalty nor skin in the game. We have several experiences with Viking, and are getting ready to sail Seabourn. Itinerary is really important, so I am just trying to figure out 2024 choice between a few options. There are several that are interesting.
  13. Did you find this out prior to booking or full payment? It would make a difference in researching in advance for us
  14. Thank you. I appreciate that info. We are sailing on Quest so want to be prepared
  15. Do we need to bring adapters on Seabourn for electrical if from the States? Just occurred to me. Thank you
  16. Perfect. I always do that research. This is great information. Thank you
  17. We are! I just booked the one we knew we really wanted. I need to take the time to look at the rest of the ports. We are looking at a lot of DIY. I appreciate all the advice. Thank you all
  18. Airfares and miles to Europe this year are crazy. We had 195k booked that last year covered RT BC out of SFO. We had to cancel that trip, but we had the miles banked. I figured it might take more, but I was in no way prepared for another 235k to cover this year! We did it because we didn’t want to loose those banked. Buying many months prior ranged $10k-$12k. If the credit is $2500 pp then the math is pretty clear if the craziness continues. $175 for deviation seems fair. How flexible are they in their flights and Airlines? For instance, will they allow one stop, or are they booking you 2+ stops? If you have an account with the airline, do you accumulate miles on what they book? Do you have a voice in which airlines? ‘thank you again all
  19. Thank you. We always deviate internationally. For a multitude of reasons. And we cannot do those long flights in coach. Again, for a multitude of reasons. So on international flights, Regent does or does not charge for deviation in BC? And even with that, their fares for BC remain worth looking at? I used miles for an upcoming trip that I missed the 330 day window on. It was astronomical how many it took RT VCE from SFO BC. At that rate, miles will disappear faster than I planned!
  20. Thank you. This helps. Sounds like if we want to take it to the next level it’s likely available, and will get our TA involved. One more question. If it is the default, then the posted pricing is D2D or P2P?
  21. Sounding fairly common. Thank you. I know timing can certainly impact when families can travel. We always try to do so in shoulder season. But this is good information to have.
  22. Thank you for further updates. We will be passing on Atlas for now. Not all lines are for everyone. ‘we are getting ready to sail on Seabourn, and are fans of Viking. Also looking at A&O for ‘24. Won’t be looking at Atlas for now. Even if they step it up in some areas, we would prefer a more elevated dining experience when we travel. It does not sound like Atlas is intending to be that - which works for many.
  23. Good to know. Thank you. I sincerely love kids but I prefer to vacation without. I have to believe that with thin cabin walls, it might be impossible to not hear. It seems some lines attract multigenerational more than others. I think that is a wonderful thing to be able to do - but knowing ahead whether it is common is a good point for deciding.
