  1. For those who have taken the bus from the cruise ship port to sapphire beach - did you feel unsafe in any way while walking to the bus stop or at the beach? Sorry to hijack the thread.

My husband and I went to Sapphire Beach in November. We rode in a van with other people. I never felt any fear in any manner. The driver was great, and the beach is incredible. We are trying to decide if we are going back to the same place. We are heading back in April

  2. We are traveling on the Epic 3/23 and have a couple questions about the shows.

I have made reservations for Blue Man Group, Second City, Cirque, and Legends.

    1) We like to go to early dinner and then go to a show. I made most of our show reservations for 7:00. They suggest you arrive 15 mins early for the shows. Do you think we will have time to eat dinner at 5:30, when Manhattan opens, and then get to the 7:00 show? We do usually get in line for dinner around 5-5:15, so being seated at 5:30 is usually not a problem for us.

    2) Attending the show is the highlight of our evening. We travel with our 15 year old daughter and do not spend much time in the casino or bars. We enjoy going to a show together each evening as a family. We are used to going to a different show each night of the cruise. It appears that there may be several nights that there are no shows for us to attend. Does Second City do a different version each night? Or is there another comedy show we can attend with our daughter?

We cant wait to sail the Epic, and I am confident we will find something to do each evening as a family!

My husband and I went early to dinner, and hit the Blue man group twice during the cruise. Get to the restaurant early. When we would leave for the show, there would be a very long line. The Blue Man Group was just great. My husband went to a Second City (early show) that was family friendly. I can't say if they do a different version every night.

  3. Looking for experienced completed bypass cruisers and how you survive and enjoy the cruises after surgery. Upcoming surgery with an upcoming TA in November. Would appreciate all suggestions.

    Thanks,

    Norma

I am 11 years out of Roux and Y bypass surgery. I am not sure how far out you are. I will give you an FYI based on my experience. There are foods that I still can't tolerate. I can eat almost anything else. I found the best thing for me was to head to the buffet, and check out everything, before taking a dish. I don't eat well in the heat, so this helps me. In fact, if I lived in a HOT climate, I would probably have never been very heavy! If you are having the surgery soon, and going on a trip in November; you will not be able to eat very much. It just depends on how your doctor introduces food after surgery. I would stick with the omelets at breakfast. The cook will gladly pull out the Pam if you ask him. You can get seafood at lunch and dinner. If you have specific questions, please feel free to ask. I feel like I am just rambling.

  4. I know there is an Excursion Review Section but I have a specific question. Is it safe for 2 ladies to get a cab to Nohoch Kay Beach in Costa Maya? I have read GREAT reviews on that beach from Trip Advisor. Thanks.

Yes-it is safe for you two ladies to take a cab. It is only about 5 minutes from the port. You are going to enjoy yourself! I have been there twice, and it is a great time.

  5. My husband and I spent one of the greatest days ever in November 2013, at Sapphire Beach in St. Thomas. I saw a picture of Trunk Bay and it looks like Heaven. We are heading back on a cruise in a couple of months. I know there is time spent getting to the ferry, then the trip over to St. Johns. We will be in port from 8-4 pm. What do you all recommend?

  6. I used to weigh 365 pounds. I have lost a lot of weight, but I am still a bit heavy. Anyway, the biggest issue you may have is with the life jacket. You have to wear one. We arrived after several tour buses (we took a private tour) and they were pretty picked over. If I had been more endowed up top, I couldn't have worn it. I should say the last time I was there was 10/12 everyone had to wear one. Also, there is approximately one mile walk to the launch point. It could be less. It is hard to gauge. The tubes are large. The first time I went, you could paddle about on your own; however, now the guides pull you along, and keep everyone pretty close together. If you can sit in a regular sized tire tube, you should be ok. Keep your butt up in the shallow area, or you will come home with some free stones!
