No Berries available onboard

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Just wanted to write that I am onboard the Nautica now 3/16/07 sailing and there's a berry problem again.

The dining room manager, Boris has been very friendly and he has said that mixed berries are available, but so far, I have only received strawberries/blueberries one evening, and only strawberries or nothing at all on other nights. It seems a big or deal whenever I ask for them to the waiters for them to find it. So far I have not seen any blackberries or raspberries either.

Just wanted to let Frank know that people on the ship still seem not to be familiar with the new berry policy.

They are very aware of the BERRY policy.

However, we are having a problem on Nautica with getting fresh berries onboard.

The Chinese and South Korean authorities have refused to let U.S. sourced berries onboard. The situation will get back to normal once she reaches HK.

We have tried everything to rectify the situation to no avail.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Hi Frank,

Thanks for the quick reply. It is most appreciated. Will the ship be able to source berries from Japan as we will be in Japan for the next 5 days with 4 ports and one overnight in Kobe?

Please take a look at my casino manager post. The casino is run by a concession company, Century Casinos which I am sure you are familiar with. Maybe it's because the casino manager knows the shipboard staff have no control over them, thus their very unfriendly and unprofessional behavior that I have never seen on any cruise.

StrawBERRIES & blueBERRIES are both from the BERRY family so your complaint of NO BERRIES is not correct.

I have never seen such a hub bub over berries in my life.

Now when they don't have clotted cream for the scones that is something to moan about!!

sometimes life is just not fair.

We're cruising with folks who will be new to Oceania on our next trip and I'm almost afraid to tell them to get on CC and read all about it. They would have to die laughing at these types of complaints. Thanks for putting it in perspective Timbo89. With your great common sense, just knew you had to be from PA.;)

Perhaps it says something about the Oceania experience as a whole, if all we can find wrong is the lack of fresh berries .....

You are so smart..you always get it right

I'm cruising the Amazon on the Regatta in Nov. and if this berry business is not cleared up I'm afraid that we might get scurvy.

Not to worry Julie. I'm currently on Regatta; & this morning's breakfast buffet had a bountiful selection of every conceivable berry known to man.

We were on the Nautica last month - they had fresh berries every morning, but not every conceivable berry -- we missed:

gooseberries

lingonberries

elderberries

cloudberries

mulberries

bilberries

huckleberries

morberries

and....sorbusberries

Regardless, we can't wait for our next Oceania cruise! Berry or not, here we come!

Please somebody tell me this is a wind up. No wonder service staff get crapped off with guests and develop 'attitude' when people are this silly. No berries - thank the Gods you are on a 5 star cruise line and not a starving person in Africa.

...except that I've never seen staff get "crapped up" or develop attitude. They take it all in stride and generally good humor. Of course, no one knows what they say when they get back to their berth, but it never shows.
