rp23g7 Posted September 22, 2015 #1 Share Posted September 22, 2015 I did a search and found the Pt Everglades ship schedule. We are leaving on Regal on the 8th of November, the Oasis is leaving Port Everglades on the 7th. Can you get to the end of that area on the south side of Port Everglades, Ocean Dr. I believe it is? If memory serves me there is a Coast Guard station right there. Is that Beach public? or is the view better from the North side of the port? This is a frequent question on the Florida Departures Board (http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=495) - just do a search on "watching ships leave Port Everglades." I assume you will have a car to get there. The only potential complication I can see is that the park closes at dusk (and the Park Service determines when that is) and are pretty aggressive about making folks leave. By November 7 we are back on eastern daylight time. As an alternative you can watch from the top of the 17th street bridge at any time or from the jetty by the condos on the north side. Friscoonetwo Posted September 22, 2015 #4 Share Posted September 22, 2015 The beach by the jetty is your best bet. There is beach access at the end of SW 20th street and metered parking near the end of South Ocean Drive. If you are lucky you might find parking on surrounding streets but a lot of it is restricted. Only a short walk to the beach and then a short walk to the breakwater. Also if you do mind getting up early, DW and I like to watch the ships coming in in the morning. Especially the ship we will be getting on in a few hours. Something to be said to be on an empty beach, see lights in the distance, see the ship take shape and it's almost silent passage through the breakwater with most of its lights on.
