Weather related travel this weekend

I am hoping for some advice from cold weather cruisers who deal with snow often. I am supposed to fly out of Cincinnati Saturday morning thru Chicago to New Orleans for a cruise on the Pearl Sunday. I am meeting my daughter and her DH and 2 kids in New Orleans as they are driving. Forecast for Cincy from Friday nite into Saturday is for significant snow with possibilities of an inch up to a foot. Should I hope to get out or try to make driving arrangements? I made reservations thru NCL CAS. If I dont make it will they let my family board?

Get out ASAP. Friend of mine from Boston is on the Jade leaving this Friday. They had a flight for This morning, got cancelled yesterday because of the snow storm coming. Luckily they got onto a flight last night. If you can leave early I would do so

Well you'll get some different opinions I'm sure... depending on your flight times the likelihood would seem that CVG will be on top of things by the Saturday afternoon - if indeed it is a Friday night snowfall. Critical will be where your inbound aircraft is coming from... you can look this up at places like FlightAware.

Normally I would say 'drive it' and have your destiny in your own hands but I'm not sure if you have the luxury of leaving before the snow on Friday and breaking your journey Friday night somewhere south?

Also... if you cancel your outbound air you may lose and have to rebook your return.

The good news is you're smart and leaving a day early... so you still have Sunday AM as a fall-back.

If the airline is predicting cancellations, they will try to get you out earlier if you ask about it. Don't wait for them to call you! I think they'd rather have people leave early than to try to re-book them after the storm. Good luck!

...or equally you could rebook and fly on the Friday...

There is no fee to change flights now. Get out before the snow starts.

You do have another concern if CAS comped your room or you are using a certificate from a land-based casino in your name and you miss the cruise. You need to be in that room to avoid them charging your family members for the cruise. You could call CAS to double-check and see if this is still the rule. I hope this works out for you and your family.

You are correct. CAS would charge my family the "price" of the cruise which comes to around $1600 for two of the people. There are two others in a discounted cabin. I did not even discuss that with them.
