FYI: RCI blocking routers on their network

Does anyone have experience with these wired network connections? Do they work?

Yes. No. WiFi is the only connection unless you happen to find an unlocked cage around one of the ships' PCs and can get to the wired CAT5 cable (like the PC in the DL).

Is that like sharing a drink pkg?

I think so. Why not just Purshase multiple VOOM packages?

I think their argument is going to be they are only using one pipe but to me, it’s still spiting the bandwidth and robbing Royal of justifiable revenue.

No, because you pay for a Surf connection with which you can't get any more data if you spread across multiple devices (unlike drinks) and RCI doesn't prohibit it (yet).
Aren't they kind of prohibiting it if this wont work for the average non techie?

I don’t agree.

Why don’t you ask Royal if installing a router in order to have multiple devices on VOOM is permitted?

I believe the answer is no.

Why would one need a router onboard other than adding multiple devices to one connection?

I've come to appreciate a travel router to get a decent wifi signal in the cabin. Doesn't do much good if the signal is ok at the door but useless at the desk, bed or on the balcony.

If WiFi is useless at the desk, how does the router get a signal?[emoji848]

Weird since the same companies that offer the wireless routers also make network cards, they must have some software that offers the option to block the MAC address range.

Every router I've seen has the ability to assume any MAC address, so this should not be a problem.
