2014 Cruise Critic Cruisers Choice Awards

The Westerdam was HAL's best showing in the 2014 Cruise Critic Cruisers Choice Awards.

In all, Westerdam received seven mentions in the Mid-Size Ship categories:

Best Overall - 10th place

Best Cabins - 6th place

Best Embarkation - 10th place

Best Fitness - 7th place

Best Public Rooms - 6th place

Best Shore Excursions - 2nd place

Best Value - 7th place

The Oosterdam also had a couple of nods in the same category: Best Cabins (9th place) and Best Fitness (9th place). The Prinsendam picked up 10th place in the Best Value category for Small Ships.

Overall, not really a stellar performance for HAL. These ratings are based on CC member review, which I will admit I never submit and rarely read. Perhaps I should start reviewing more... :o. I do think HAL should have placed better in some of the categories.

What I find funny is that the Westerdam is considered "mid-size", and the Prinsendam is "small".

I must admit that I am not surprised. Lately, this forum is full of passengers complaining about poor service, constant cutbacks, unpleasant policy changes, poorly maintained ships and billing errors.

Interestingly, "Best Service" was one of the categories where HAL did not make the rankings at all, on any of its ships.
