Monterey - distance to Cannery Row and Monterey Bay Aquarium?

Last time we stopped in Monterey (it's been 3 years) we rented a car and drove the 17 mile drive and Carmel. This time want to check out Cannery Row and the Aquarium, but prefer not to rent a car again. Do not recall how far away these were, and the best options transportation-wise to get there. Any advice would be appreciated.
