Last Minute Fascination - Leaving TOMORROW

I was sitting outside last night, about ready to go to bed, when an email pops up from Carnival asking if I want to take a last minute FREE CABIN cruise on Fascination leaving Thursday, 9/28. I thought it was a joke, but no .... so tomorrow we drive to Jacksonville and have a free OV cabin (of course we have port fees and gratuities which came out to about $400 for 3 of us total), but I just couldn't pass it up.

Never been on the Fascination. What can you tell me? My first cruise was the Ecstasy in 2013 so I'm assuming they are similar. Also, the ship doesn't leave until 8pm which is very unusual, but means I really don't have to miss the whole day of work tomorrow either, which is a plus.

I guess with all the cancelations from the hurricane they are just trying to fill the cabins, but I'm certainly not complaining. My kids thought I was fibbing when I told them last night we were leaving on a cruise in less then 2 days.

:D Same here! Thought that email had to be a scam when I first saw it!!!! I am still pinching myself as I pack!!

I know! Me too!!!!! Ship doesn't leave until 8pm which I found very unusual and my boarding passes say to arrive at 3:30. It's a 2.5 hour drive for us but awesome as I only have to miss 1/2 day of work tomorrow.

The Fascination usually cruises from San Juan and as of last week ALL of it's departures were cancelled for the next couple of weeks. So yes, in the case of the Fascination they are just trying to fill the cabins during it's unexpected last minute temporary re positioning.

Freeport and Nassau ... been there done that so I'll probably chill on the ship and play trivia.

I can still log in and check and for me the price still says $0. If any of you are really interested I would call Carnival.

I figured something like that, still awesome. If we lived down there, we would already be packing :) Have fun

I am going also. At first I logged in under Hubby's VIP # and it said he was not eligible. I put in my VIP # and it worked. He does not go to the Casino but I do so that makes sense why his VIP# does not apply. Does anyone know what time FTTF can check in for an 8 pm departure?

I have no idea why mine worked then if it's for casino guests. The woman I spoke to from Carnival this morning didn't say anything about that. I used the slot machines on one of my cruises and spent $50 - so I'm not a gambler.

I don't know about FTTF. I didn't bother with it this time since it is leaving so late (but I can't say I didn't think about it). It appears there are still lots of open cabins so I'm hoping for no long lines.

I am not sure if the Elation is out of dry dock and is leaving from Jacksonville also. That may explain the late departure because I know The bridge in Jacksonville is low and tides have to be just right for ships to get under.... we have about the same drive, about 2 hrs and 45 mins so the late departure works out for us to as my husband and I both work night shift tonight! I always decorate our door but may have to skip this time.... we will see what I can pull off.

When I called last night to see if this could possibly be true, the Carnival rep stated that due to repositioning some of those booked on Fascination could not go. They put these rooms in a random drawing and only the VIFP number that was drawn is eligible. Thankfully my husband was one of the lucky ones so off we go!

I actually got a phone call from my PVP two days ago offering me a free cruise. She asked if I could leave very soon but due to my work schedule I cannot.

Just sailed on a free cruise with Norwegian and have another one in mid December. Too bad I'm not retired yet.
