I am so disappointed!

God, isn't that just typical of anything run by our local Government.

Of course, they coulda given you (and us!) a clue

as to what date they just might be opened by!

I'll give them a ring tomorrow and see if I can pull any teeth

oops sorry, I meant extract information from them,

regarding a definite opening date

- or whatever I can ascertain..

Sorry about that,really.

(at least they emailed!)

Aplmac.

I rang Harrison's Cave.

Seems they're trying for 'end of November',

so let's think of it as "early December"

allowing for a few last-minute details/hangups..

More accurate than that is just not possible, at this time.

Either me or SunnieBGI will update you guys

as the time flies, while we're having fun!

Thanks for that Aplmac.

I booked this cruise at the beginning of the year and the first choice for port of call was Barbadoas to see Harrisons Caves.

I would be very dissapointed if I don't get to see them. We will be there Wednesday December 5th.

Regards,

Marleneann.

Interesting. The Glory Tours web site assumes that the cave will be open in December. I hope it's open when we're there on 12/1 and 2 for our Wind Surf cruise.

Actually the opening date of the Caves hasn't moved really at all since they finally started the reno. It's always been Nov/early Dec 07. I feel fairly certain (without waging money on it) that in some way shape or form, the Caves will be open for business during your cruise in February.

And yes. Most if not all cruise lines will put the Caves back on their tours lists as soon as the word go is given.

Enjoy.

Hi

I just found this thread and am also interested in visiting the Harrison Caves when our cruise (Explorer of the Seas) stops in Barbados in February 2008.

I've been checking the cruise sponsored excursions for Barbados and was very excited when I saw that they added about 7 new ones. Unfortunately, none to the caves so my excitement was short lived.

Is there a website for the caves that we can visit to check the progress?

Thank you for any help/advice.

Noreen

I just (1:46 p.m. Barbados time) phoned Harrison's Cave

to ask about an opening date.

"Around de end of dis munf(month)" she said.

End of December, I asked? Yes,she said.

This time I didn't have to extract an approximate date from them, they offered it

so this bodes well. I think.

Thanks for the info. I am scheduled to visit Harrison's Cave with Glory Tours on December 31st. I am checking with Sarah to make sure it is a go.

Could anyone tell me approximately how long it would take to get there by taxi

and approx. how much it would cost?

How long?

somewhere between half an hour and forty five minutes

depending on the traffic getting out of Bridgetown,

but probably more like half an hour.

How much?

I don't use taxis locally,

so someone else might answer you more correctly on that one, sorry.

For what it is worth...

The latest report is that the Caves are scheduled to open

on December 15th, ===> I very much doubt that.

but I was also advised to check back on the 16th...LOL

Given what they told me yesterday on the phone

there's no way they'll be open by mid-December!

Checking back closer to month end

may get you a slightly more accurate opening date.

Good luck to those who are here Dec. 31st! :)

You are 100% correct. I received word this morning that the opening on the 15th was incorrected, but like you said

"Around de end of dis munf(month)" Thanks for keeping us informed

Based on what I heard on Sunday, when I went to Orchid World instead of Harrison's Cave, don't place any bets on this month. According to Sarah of Glory tours, they started three months late, then delayed the public opening by doing a temporary opening for the cricket world cup.

I received an email from Glory tours which stated that they were told by Harrisons that they would be open December 15, 2007.:)

Sarah was, indeed, told that the cave would be open by 12/15. As of Sunday, 12/9. she didn't believe that the opening would happen by then. We'll know soon.
