Fitnessmaniac Posted April 27, 2008 #1 Share Posted April 27, 2008 I was talking to RCCL Crown and Anchor about our upcoming b/b cruise on the Mariner in August. She asked me if I booked this through the Back to Back desk. huh? Is there a B/B desk? If so..should I have booked through them? Are there any special perks for taking a b/b? We did a b/b a couple of years ago..but..It was RCCL's Serenade and then we got off the ship and got on a Celebrity. Anyway...does anyone know about b/b desk? Thanks. :)
csk Posted April 27, 2008 #2 Share Posted April 27, 2008 There are no perks for a b2b, but there is a desk, just call the same number you would for a booking and ask for the b2b desk, seems they have a certain dept. take care of this.
megr1125 Posted April 27, 2008 #3 Share Posted April 27, 2008 yes there is..just call and ask to be transerred....you want to make sure your 2 ressies are linked so you will get your B2B info. No perks but it's fun to see what happens on turnover day..... once the 2 ressies are linked you will not be able to access them on line...and you will (most likely) not be able to print out e-docs....(i never was able to get them...RC sent them like 3 times, but i could never open them due to the reservations being linked.) I would get paper docs. B2Bs are fun...you will have to leave the ship for immigration, but will most likely be escorted off and back on the ship......took us like 2 minutes. actually it took longer to walk off the ship and into the pier than it did for the homeland securit person to look at our passport! you can't take anything off the ship with you are you are "in transit". (just your handbag, etc) we had different cabins...(long story) and they moved our stuff. we only pakced the loose stuff, anything on hangers was moved by the cabin attendant. have fun! TEXASMUNK Posted April 27, 2008 #4 Share Posted April 27, 2008 will insure you get the smooth transition from one cruise to the next. They also have the ability to insure no "computer" hiccups since the RCI software has a hard time recognizing B2B cruisers (ie, manual overrides)
cruisenfever Posted April 28, 2008 #5 Share Posted April 28, 2008 If you want to do online check in for your b2b you'll have to do it by going through the back door!! On the RCI home page on the top click on "Before You Board"...........then click on "On-Line Check In". You will not be able to enter both reservations numbers in your My Cruise account because for some reason it just doesn't accept two reservations that are associated with a b2b cruise. You can print out your SetSail Passes using the same back door method.

After posting the back door instructions I've always used, I found it wouldn't work for me this morning. Nevermind! RCCL.com just does not speak B2B very well. wyattm Posted April 29, 2008 #15 Share Posted April 29, 2008 Just tried today to book a B2B on AOS in 2010 and they said there was no B2B desk  What number did you use to reach the desk? I used 1-866-562-7625.

cruisenfever Posted April 29, 2008 #18 Share Posted April 29, 2008 What if I just want to look at the b2b? Or reserve excursions online? Your b2b will not show up in My Cruises. Only one of the two reservations can be entered.........thus you can only view one. Why you ask..........I haven't a clue. I've called and asked and even RCI can't give me a logical explanation. If you want to reserve excursions online............you have to put each booking number in separate when looking/booking. Sometimes I think they have added to many "special" features to their website. Half the time none of them work!:(
Marabella2004 Posted April 30, 2008 #19 Share Posted April 30, 2008 On Celebrity, for a b2b, you log in, and go to 'before your cruise' in order to create your documents. You do it for each cruise in the b2b separately using your confirmation number.

It will only allow 1 confirmation number to be posted and we get 2 numbers as they are considered 2 separate cruises.. doublegatorI can only use the back door when I'm not signed in. I don't know if that's true for everyone or not... That is true for everyone. We can not sign in to go in the back door. RCCL told me how to do that over the phone and said, "Do not sign in." ;)
CruiseKeeper Posted May 7, 2008 #21 Share Posted May 7, 2008 This morning I tried to make a payment on my b2b in September. I called the number on their website and it was busy. Then, I called the C&A desk and got a very nice woman. She verified all my information and we even tried to fix my history and credits that have been wrong on the website. On that issue, FYI, she indicated that since I used my middle name instead of my initial that I usually use, the system created duplicate accounts. She ordered them to merge and said that their merge isn’t working so well (ya think?) and since I have 9 more cruises until I reach my next level of D+, they had time to fix the merge and my record. Then she went to make my payment. My account was flagged and was not able to accept a credit card payment. What? She said there was no note about why they couldn’t accept my payment, it was just blocked. She gave me the number of Customer Service and I called there. At customer service, she said it was because only the b2b desk could take my payment, so she transferred me to that desk. I asked her for the b2b telephone number and she said they don’t have a number; she would have to transfer me. Then, finally at the b2b desk, this very nice woman told me that since I made my reservation thru a Certified Vacation Planner, I could only make my payment through them and their desk doesn’t open until 10:00. All the people I spoke with were very nice and apologetic, but Hellz Bells, I’m just trying to GIVE them money, not take any! I know that b2b’s are contrary to their computer system but this is a new one on me. I’m still not finished; I’ll try to make my payment at 10:00 and will see how that goes. I really should have asked why but at that point, I was just so pleased that they finally were able to process my payment that I just forgot to ask. :o

BTW, we're doing our first ever b2b this fall, also on Mariner, but a few weeks after you. I'll be interested in hearing about their procedures, since I understand it can be a little different from ship to ship.
suzyluvs2cruise Posted May 8, 2008 #25 Share Posted May 8, 2008 We're doing our first b2b this fall. :D Thanks to Patti's instructions I was able go in the "back door" and filled in everything for the SetSail Pass several months ago. Where I had trouble was accessing Shore Excursions. I'd try and most of the time get the dreaded "error message". I called the "if you need technical help" number and they didn't know what I was talking about. Finally, C&A told me to just keep trying and, eventually, I would be able to get in. It seems they have similar problems accessing b2b reservations too. Reminds me of the old addage "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again". Looks like persistence is the name of the game. Just wish the whole process wasn't so frustrating.
