Shade, snorkle, snooz in Barbados?

This will be our third island in three days on a November cruise. We're looking for:

  • A relaxing, fairly quiet, shade-guaranteed beach place
  • We want to have a drink or two and snooze maybe!
  • Snorkel and swim where there is something to see underwater (white sand alone doesn't qualify :D)
  • Be able to take a fresh water shower after the salt water
  • Easy transportation to/from our ship (Ruby Princess) is essential
  • Price under $50 for the two of us.

We have been to Barbados a couple of times and seen the things that most interested us, and on this visit we want to just relax for a while. Sorta like what we've done in the hammocks at Costa Maya and the cabanas at Cozumel's National Park, for those of you familiar with those two spots.

Any suggestions? Princess offers a Malibu Beach tour for about $30 pp, but Malibu beach does not look like there is anything to see for snorkeling. Although just about everything else is okay assuming we can get an umbrella and take the rum factory tour for that price.

Also, it's near to Holetown.

That way, if you get hungry, it's just a short walk to some restaurants.

and very close to where a new West Coast boardwalk will soon be

Yes, we did Folkstone... it was great for snorkeling. Matter of fact they were giving some scuba lessons there. When we went two years ago, lots of shade, showering facilites, a small snack bar. Bathrooms. Not many people there. When we got off the boat, we gave the info desk the same criteria as you have listed and they sent us there. Cab driver even drove thru the area where Tiger Woods got married. We gave him a time and he came back and picked us up! Great place! We are traveling back this year and going to Folkstone again!
