Boo's Mom Posted September 14, 2009 #2 Share Posted September 14, 2009 What does this mean? Are we on our own for getting to our destination from the ship? The ship will offer tours (excursions) that you can take when the ship docks at the diffferent Ports of Call. You are free to do what you wish, when you get there. Stay on the ship. Book your own independent tour. Book a ship's tour. Just walk off the ship and do whatever. Hope that helps.
StillPooh Posted September 14, 2009 Author #3 Share Posted September 14, 2009 Hope that helps. Not really. We booked three excursions through Carnival's website. Only one, at Port Canaveral, is listed as a "port of call" excursion. The others make specific references to transportation; that one does not. Boo's Mom Posted September 14, 2009 #4 Share Posted September 14, 2009 If you are booking an excursion with Carnival, they will handle all of the transportation involved with your excursion. Copy and print the wording for the Port Canaveral excursion, so I can see it.
Boo's Mom Posted September 14, 2009 #5 Share Posted September 14, 2009 I looked at the Oct 4, 09 Pride Itinerary. Apparently, you have booked a tour in Port Canaveral, at the end of your cruise?

Apparently, you have booked a tour in Port Canaveral, at the end of your cruise?[/quote']No, we are sailing out of Baltimore. The Kennedy Space Center is day 3, our first port of call. We end up where we started, back in Baltimore. I guess some people who sail out of Canaveral might do that tour on their embarkation day?
Boo's Mom Posted September 14, 2009 #7 Share Posted September 14, 2009 Ok. I see how Carnival confused you. Port Canaveral is a port that ships will visit, but also a port that ships will embark and disembark from. Some of the excursions that are offered at Port Canaveral are only offered for those who are "visiting" the port for the day. Some are offered only to those who are disembarking, etc... @ this port. This has to do with the time issue. So, when it says: This is a Port of Call Excursion ..... this means that you can only book this excursion if you are visiting this port for the day, which you will be doing on your itinerary. Do not worry about the transportation issue. If you can book it, they will provide your transportation. Now, is this helpful? :)

Rare richstowe Posted October 28, 2010 #9 Share Posted October 28, 2010 This finally answers something I have been trying to understand what THIS IS A PORT OF CALL EXCURSION means. Thanx
paul929207 Posted October 28, 2010 #10 Share Posted October 28, 2010 I suspect Carnival is not bothering to put together two lists of excusions for this port. One list would be for cruises calling on the port (like OP's from Baltimore) and a separate one for cruises the originate there.
