klray Posted September 26, 2009 #1 Share Posted September 26, 2009 Has anyone booked a Sky Suite on the Equinox on the Resort Deck? The cabins are under the buffet and we have heard that on other ships, the noise from cleaning was an issue.
Rare C-Dragons Posted September 26, 2009 #2 Share Posted September 26, 2009 Has anyone booked a Sky Suite on the Equinox on the Resort Deck? The cabins are under the buffet and we have heard that on other ships, the noise from cleaning was an issue. We can only offer our experience on her sister ship, Solstice. We had SS 2148 on the Inaugural, and didn't have any problem with noise. We are booked in CC 2152 on Equinox and Eclipse. The aft Resort deck cabins are wonderful, IMHO. Smoke Fan Posted September 26, 2009 #3 Share Posted September 26, 2009 I agree with C-Dragons. We stayed in SS 2121 Resort Deck on Solstice and never had a problem with noise from above. Patty
Hypo Posted September 26, 2009 #4 Share Posted September 26, 2009 We had 2116 on the Solstice and had no noise problems from above. Our next door neighbors were another story!!
Duane T Posted September 26, 2009 #5 Share Posted September 26, 2009 When we were on the Equinox earlier this month, we met a couple who had a Sky Suite and commented it was very quiet (we had problems with our upstairs neighbor untile we asked them to refrain from dropping heavy items as we could hear it when they were in their cabin up to 2AM in the morning...and we didn't have any noise after that). I also read of noise in the suites under the Buffet Area but the whole area where seating occurs is a very thick carpet. The tables are very heavy but it I saw the staff moving them around by sliding them on the carpet, not picking up and dropping them.
ehfl Posted September 27, 2009 #6 Share Posted September 27, 2009 Smart travelers always bring earplugs....now you know why.
pris993 Posted September 27, 2009 #7 Share Posted September 27, 2009 Ear plugs do not help if folks are dropping things or if you have a cleaning crew above on the sports deck. We had that on a couple of Princess ships, now never book cabins right under the sports deck.
Kevin's girl Posted September 27, 2009 #8 Share Posted September 27, 2009 We were in 2122 on the Solstice. There wasn't a lot of noise from above. Just an rare bump or thud. There was a great creaking in the ceiling when the seas were rough. It was great for sleeping, like the creak of an old rocking chair. We loved it. klray Posted September 28, 2009 Author #9 Share Posted September 28, 2009 Thanks everyone. I've upgraded from conceirge class to the sky suite and haven't told my husband. Hope he will be pleasantly surprised!!
jveevers Posted September 29, 2009 #10 Share Posted September 29, 2009 Just back from Equinox sailing Sept. 13th. Yes all Sky suites are under "Oceanview cafe". Should not be any noise from cleaning as its is continouse because cafe is open almost 24/7. We did however hear someone complaining of scraping of chairs in the cafe above their SkySuite. Most of Cafe is carpetted but some central areas are not and that is where chairs would possibly be heard.
