LLM Posted September 30, 2009 #8 Share Posted September 30, 2009 I'm just getting detalis, but apparently the Carnival Legend just collided with a RCCL ship in Cozumel! Well that $uck$! According to this site http://cozumelinsider.com/cruiseships/ the ships in port are Carnival Legend, Enchantment of the Seas and Carnival Imagination. Both Carnival ships are docked at Puerta Maya and Enchantment is at the International Pier. I sure hope there isn't much damage. I wonder if the current sailings are affected and if the following sailing will be?! Lisa

rushedmom Posted September 30, 2009 #11 Share Posted September 30, 2009 Wow that is awful. When we cruised in July on Enchantment, Carnival Legend was at the international pier with us.

JanineM Posted September 30, 2009 #13 Share Posted September 30, 2009 Good Lord! Hopefully everyone is okay and the damage is not too bad. I agree ... it's not only awful for those onboard now, but also everyone with cruises planned. If the damage really is severe then there will be a lot of heartbroken cruisers in the next months. :(

Darkwolfe Posted September 30, 2009 #16 Share Posted September 30, 2009 Not good! Hope nobody has been hurt. After the people concerns, Enchantment is a ship I'm rather fond of. Hope the damage is repairable.

englishlady Posted September 30, 2009 #18 Share Posted September 30, 2009 Oh my goodness! Hope there were no injuries. If anyone gets any news, please keep us posted. Hopefully, as big ships go, it was just a bump that won't incapacitate either ship from completing the current cruise and didn't cause any injury. leslieart Posted September 30, 2009 #19 Share Posted September 30, 2009 I was on the "Behind the Fun" tour Saturday on Legend and met the guys who (assuming this is true) are freaking out right now... Captain, First Officer, Chief Engineer. It's an eery feeling.
reallyitsmema Posted September 30, 2009 #20 Share Posted September 30, 2009 If you search on the word Enchantment on Twitter, the first tweet I see is almost 2 hours ago. Then there is a tweet from the same person saying minimal damage and that the Legend has proceeded on its way. Editted to add: I have never used that site before and I know it is just people posting and could be false info, just relaying what I saw.
celebrity Posted September 30, 2009 #21 Share Posted September 30, 2009 I just told my husband & he said it must be Carnival's fault..LOL Seriously though, I hope no one is hurt..this is terrible!
englishlady Posted September 30, 2009 #22 Share Posted September 30, 2009 So sad! LOVE Enchantment! What a bummer for pax onboard and those booked on cruises in the near future. I'm gonna be optimistic and hope there's not much damage and no future cruises impact. Please let it be! Alma

BND Posted October 1, 2009 #25 Share Posted October 1, 2009 The Captains have ultimate responsibility. That's just the way it is. In the Navy also, if a ship runs aground or hits something, the Captain is the one that is responsible for everything that happens. Unlike the Navy though, unless there is negligence, I don't think it's treated the same way. 25 mph winds wouldn't have caused a collision by itself so let's wait and see what really happened.
