bogofman Posted October 9, 2016 #27 Share Posted October 9, 2016 We were disappointed for the first time year, on the europe Reflection cruise, apart from 1 evening all shows were over by 10pm, We much prefer the late evening 10.30 slot, the only night they did this the theatre was packed For some strange reason most nights the area next to the martini bar was turned into a full on disco. Now I like loud music, in the right venue but not here, we could not have a conversation even in cafe Al bacio,
chromered7 Posted October 9, 2016 #28 Share Posted October 9, 2016 (edited) I firstly have to say that the shows are not why I cruise but my wife likes it as an alternative to the Casino. The main reason I don't care for the "shows" is that they are mostly poor in quality. I spoke to my wife about this post and we had to think when we last saw a good show on a cruise. This of course is subjective , another mans meat is another mans poison and all that, but our experience the shows are mundane . The one off entertainers , magicians etc, have been fairly average. I do feel that the dilution of quality in the shows, activities and in some cases food, is a concerted plan by the cruise lines to charge more or the same for a product that is not as good as it used to be. The other side to this is there the appetite for shows by cruisers, not all performances are full, and many people leave part through the performance. Our last cruise on AZ was the best cruise we have ever been on in terms of quality of service , itinerary and food etc. , but the shows were good to average. I do feel that cruisers are being short changed in certain areas. On our last cruise with X on Connie last year the activities staff numbers were down therefor the activities were down. screwsmcernst Posted October 9, 2016 #29 Share Posted October 9, 2016 I am always prepared for "Amusement Park" quality entertainment from the troupe on any ship that I sail. Usually on X, it is slightly better, but our last sailing on the Summit left me shaking my head in disbelief at how bad the last production show was. Something about mermaids singing, and a guy dressed up in drag. It was REALLY bad. Not even the drink package could save that one.
wallie5446 Posted October 10, 2016 #30 Share Posted October 10, 2016 (edited) Have read several comments about the decline in the quality of Celebrity entertainment in the past year. Has anyone noted a change? We have been happy with what we have seen on the Galaxy in May and Infinity Dec 5....Is it the production shows? Comedians, Jugglers??? Cirque??? It was not worth much in 1994 compared to other lines. Ok, just realized this is a rebirth of a thread from 2005! 11 years ago! Jokes on me. No joke, just pointing out what others have said, the same complaints come up every year.... year in and year out.- More people are cruising now than ever and I cruise now more than I did 25 years ago because I think over all it's a better bang-for the-buck now then ever. Edited October 10, 2016 by A Sixth? I bet you're the ones that sit there all day from breakfast so we can never get a table. Probably reading the kindles too.....[emoji6] Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
