Third solo, first Med cruise a big success!

For my seventh cruise and third solo, I decided to try a seven night Mediterranean cruise on Celebrity Century on September 26. I had spent six days pre-cruise in Rome with my daughter before flying to Barcelona for the cruise. I enjoyed the time in Rome and of course spending several days in one place has its advantages in really getting to know it, but I think cruising is a great way to see Europe. I did a combination of independent travel and a couple of ship's tours and enjoyed it all. Lots of great information on the Cruise Critic Europe boards and I found the Rick Steves guides to be very helpful as well. Bottom line is that I loved the experience and once again encourage anyone contemplating solo travel to just do it!

Hi Lois:)

I would love to go again but I don't think my budget will allow a trip to Europe two years in a row!

BTW, my itinerary was essentially the same as yours so if you have questions feel free to pm me at philcheffins@hotmail.com.

Welcome back Phil. Glad to see you had a great time in Europe, on your cruise and with you daughter. I lived in Europe as a child and my first time back there was on my transatlantic. That too was terrific. And I loved having all the sea days to do nothing or everything.

Lois, your cruise sounds great and I wish my budget included a tour of Europe next year.
