Don't worry about shuttles---cabs are plentiful and inexpensive. From the port area, it will cost about $8-10 to port. A cab from the airport (MIA) is $24.

The Holiday Inn-Bayside is close to port and economical. The Intercontinental is across the street from the Holiday, and is upscale and very nice.

Unless you have the evening to spend in Miami, book something by the airport (cheaper) and head to port in the morning.

I highly recommend using priceline for a hotel that is affordable. There is a thread on the Florida departure board that lists the prices that everyone is getting. We usually save about 40-50% off the price and we figure for one night we can pretty much stay anywhere!

We do only bid on 3* or higher and have never gotten a bad hotel and have never paid over $100. betterbidding. com and bidding for travel are great sites for helping you sort out what potential hotels are being bid on and the price.

well I have a similar question, we are flying in miami airport, and trying to find a hotel near miami cruise port,or at least a hotel that has a shuttle
Our last two miami based cruises, and the transatlantic we have booked for this coming April, we have stayed at the La Quinta East out by the Miami airport. Large clean rooms, a good included breakfast bar AND a free shuttle to the port make it a GREAT pre-cruise hotel for under $100. a night! We drive to the port and you can park your car there FREE for the duration of your cruise (up to two weeks) as well! Also if you fly in there is a free airport shuttle. Last cruise we drove there, parked our car, caught the free port shuttle the morning of our cruise. We were on a two week Panama Canal transit cruise that ended in LA. So after the cruise we flew back to Miami, the La Quinta van picked us up at the airport, and we drove home from the hotel. Easy and the best deal going!

We stayed at the La Quinta East last year and left our car there for the week. It was ok for one night but I read on another thread that someones car was stolen from there parking lot while they were cruising. The air is alittle seedy and rundown so I think I am going to look for other options for this March for us, even if it means spending more than $70 we paid last year.
