Currency in Bahamas

Is USD accepted there, or should we have Bahamian dollars? If so, should we plan to do this stateside or wait til we arrive in Nassau?

Oh my, they LOVE the USD in the Bahamas. Credit cards too, but some CC companies charge a fee for international charges.

Bahamian dollars are tied in value to the USD.

Just use your dollar and don't worry about theirs

We always use US dollars and since the value is the same, it's easy.

We will just use USD. I thought I had read someplace on these boards that the values were different.

 

Are traveler's checks accepted there, or should we stick with cash?

Ask for a few Bahamian coins in change for the collection.

Even the locals tend to use US dollars. We just got back today from 5 days at Atlantis and I only saw one or two Bahamian bills. We went into Nassau one day and all the bills I saw were US.
