Queen Mary 2 in Liverpool This Evening

I have been on since NYC and each of the ports around the U.K. has gotten better and better. The welcome yesterday on the Clyde was fantastic, but the sheer number of people who came out today in Liverpool in the bitter cold was overwhelming . . . the Liverpool Philharmonic is playing special concerts tonights (the same director who conducted the naming cermony) and then fireworks are set for 10:50, with a Beatles coverband playing in the Queens Room . . . overall a wonderful experience!

It has been amazing to share this with so many proud British citizens . . .

We took a ferry trip from the Birkenhead side of the river and sailed up and down for half an hour or so, with passengers moving from one side to another as we turned. It was great to see the Cunard flag ship tied up alongside in Liverpool, and very much back to her roots. The last time QE2 came to our city she had to use Mersey ferry boats as tenders!!

The next time we will see her will be in Hong Cong in February!!

David.

During the voyage we ran into Commodore Warner as he was passing through the casino and asked him about the missing tenders. He said that they were out for service/repairs in Southampton. He also said as a result, the total guests allowed on board was slightly restricted. Even though all the cabins were occupied, they restricted the number of 3rd/4th guests in some of the cabins.

I am from Liverpool, and sailed across the pond on QM2 to NYC in her inaugural year in 2004, so was nice to see the pictures of her on the Mersey.

She is in Curacao today, during a Caribbean/Panana cruise, my brother in law and his wife are onboard
