Rare Jim The Scot Posted November 7, 2009 #26 Share Posted November 7, 2009 You'll have to stay on board the while week, go on no excursions and drink the most expensive drink on the A.I. List all day, every day. :D ...Hic!! I`ll be giving it a go :D Booked for first week in July 2010,AI was included in the price

Berwyn We didn't bother getting it this year, because other half only drinks a few soft drinks, and as much as i'd like to, I really can't drink all the money's worth of booze and hot chocolate! Last year we managed to get a 'buy one get one free' on the AI.. and that was fine... £120 last year... and I forced other half to have the odd lager... but the faces he pulled. It was like watching a small child try their dad's lager for the 1st time lol
Cymro1953 Posted November 7, 2009 #29 Share Posted November 7, 2009 If we hadn't had it "free" we wouldn't have paid for it. At least they charge proper prices for the drinks on Thomson unlike Royal Caribbean and the other U.S. cruise lines. Minimum price for a bottle of wine was £20 in June :eek: Only time we been on holiday and had to watch what we drunk because of cost. I really would like to go on those ships, but when you factor in the price of tips and drinks the prices shoot up so much. I'd like a Thomson style ship thats all modern and not a silly price for a hol.
Cymro1953 Posted November 7, 2009 #32 Share Posted November 7, 2009 Thanks for that I feel better now. LOL Yes, if you're booking last minute it's cheaper to pay for booze as you go. No way I could go through £169 worth of booze in the drinking time available. One couple last year had a bottle of wine chilled by the barman for them ready for 10 a.m. every morning. (No not us :D ) Berwyn
Crinkle Posted November 11, 2009 #33 Share Posted November 11, 2009 I'm getting very excited. Ironed all hol clothes, and hid them away to prevent them being worn between now and the hol. Two weeks today will be my last day at work. Gives us a day to sort out the animals and pack.. Yey!

Am starting to worry that I might forget something. Got cash and passports. On RCI, the ship was lovely more modern than the I.E. but the ship we were on only had one No Smoking bar on it. (Not having a go at the smokers, but I've got a knackered right lung and it really affects it). And that one was next to the casino and if you sat in the wrong part the smoke drifted through. And we didn't like most of the menus in their Main Dining Room, we'd never had tough turkey before. Apart from the cost of drinks especially if you are on a 2 week cruise. Oo i'd not be too happy with all the smoke. Especially in casino, other half spends lots of time in them. And he has bad asthma, so smoke would not be great. And he has bad asthma, so smoke would not be great. It was no joke, even sitting on the "Non Smoking" side of a bar as soon as someone lit up it just drifted straight across the room. The A/c was no good in extracting it. It's a shame as they have lovely ships and good itineraries. Have you seen this review about RCI's Navigator O.S. sailing from Spain. It would have been a nightmare for me. http://www.cruise.co.uk/cruise-reviews/read_review_18597/ Berwyn

I think that smokers should be able to smoke indoors, not really fair to make them stand outside all the time. But having that many bars, just seems soo wrong for the people who don't smoke. The 1st time we went on the Destiny, people could smoke on one side of the Oaklahoma lounge. They had the air con on, and it worked fairly well. But they had changed it last year when we were on her, and it was a no smoking lounge, and to be honest, it was a lot nicer. Smokers just kept dashing out between quizzes. Dad is very excited, can't wait to choose his first drink lol Nice, We did those, apart from Rome on the I.E. last year. (it stopped in Messina Sicily instead) the only one we were not impressed with was Toulon. but it was a Sunday and raining when we were there. Handy too, 2 1/2 hour flight and straight round the bay on to the ship. Hope they have a great time. Just been for my 'flu jab this morning. (normal 'flu). Cymro1953 Posted November 13, 2009 #44 Share Posted November 13, 2009 If I could get away with it I would, but I'm a nurse and I also fall into 2 of the vulnerable categories. So I better play safe. Local staff vaccination programme is a right mess. I had to go to surgery nurse for mine and she said she'd ring me next week for the Swine Flu one. Our Occupational health dept has got no idea when they'll get the next lot in http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1206807/Swine-flu-jab-link-killer-nerve-disease-Leaked-letter-reveals-concern-neurologists-25-deaths-America.html Not all of us are happy about it especially after reading that  Berwyn

A friend (also a nurse) had her swine flu shot this week, and hasn't felt that great since. But was told she might felt a bit under the weather. Fingers crossed for no one sneezing on me on the plane lol All the girls in work that have had it have had bad arm and shoulder pains all week. When we did the RCI cruise in june it was just after it had spread from Mexico up into the U.S.A. Flight was OK, but we were really worried on the ship. Did not think there would be so many Americans aboard "doing" Europe.

It would depend where you were going. But i asked the other yr, when going on an organised shopping trip, and was told i could wear anything really. I ended up putting on capri trousers and a t-shirt, partner had cargo pants and a t also. But i did see women in short shorts and men shirtless.
