Will I make an eleven thirthy flight in rome after my cruise

We are cruising on the equinox June 2010 and our flight leaves at 11:30 am at rome airport. Will we be able to make that flight since i heard it takes an hour to make it back to once we get off the ship. Will we make the flight?

It's an easy flight to make. I just made a 10:40AM Delta flight and I know people who had 10:00AM flights. The first people were off the ship around 5:45AM. I got off at 6:15AM. We hired a private driver, RomeCabs. They had us to the airport in under an hour. Took two hours to clear customs, security check, bag check-in and take a bus to the gate area.

I would suggest you use Celebrity Transfers. I just finished a cruise on Solstice out of Rome. I had a flight from Rome airport at 9:50 am (originally 10:50 am but changed by Alitalia). I used the Solstice transfer to the airport and it went extremely smoothly. The buses are well organized and efficient. They had luggage carts reserved for us and even knew which desk area was set for our check ins. They send an 'escort' along with you. I felt it was worth every cent. Passengers give themm all their flight times and Celebrity will set you up for the bus schedule that will get you there on time. Yes, it does take a while to get through Security but not nearly as long as we had in Newark's passport control/baggage customs arrangement when we were coming home!

That is good to hear i did not want to stay an extra day in rome since we are using miles.

I have done it four times now with 11:30 flights to Philly from Rome. We arranged a private car to pick us up at the dock so we did not have to use the large busses and transfers. They were there to meet as promptly at 7:30 and we were at the airport, through security and at the gate with A LOT of time to spare.

The earliest departure flight allowed is 10 am by the cruise line.

We just got off the Equinox in Rome and we were off the ship by 6:30 am and we were picked up by Rome cabs for an 11:15 flight out of Rome to Philadelphia. He got us there in 45 minutes with plenty of time to spare. Will warn you it does take time to check in.

Ditto, Romes Cabs, off ship very early (@6:00), waited at gate @ 1 hour for a 10:50 flight.

We caught a 10:10am flight on October 30th. We were off the boat by 6am, and on a way with Rome Cabs a few minutes later. This turned out to be plenty of time.

We made it with plenty of time to spare using the Celebrity transfer. One key item I noticed (and others who went on their own and didn't realize it) is that American based carriers check in at Terminal 5, then hop on a bus back to the main terminals where the plans are. It's not a big inconvenience unless you were dropped off at the main terminal then had to tranfer way over to Terminal 5 for my US bound flight on Continental airlines.

 

In any event, we had plenty of time to eat lunch and do some last minute duty free shopping at the airport.

RomeCabs charges 160E + tip for the driver. I can highly recommend their service.

I would 1000 times recommend Rome Cabs or Rome in Limo over using the ship's transfer--I bet the cost difference is negligible and there are many less issues to deal with when traveling privately. You may even be able to find another couple to share your cab and cut the cost by half.

6 of us used Rome cabs. Cost was 60 euros per couple, plus we tipped a bit, too. as I recall, the ship transfer was just over $100 per person.
