CanuckCurlers Posted December 16, 2009 #1 Share Posted December 16, 2009 Has anyone ever gotten off the waitlist for traditional dining? Are there any tricks or special people to talk to? On our last cruise there were several tables that never had anyone at them during our sitting and yet many people were on the waitlist. We love getting to know our waiters and making relationships but alas are on the waitlist for our January cruise.
paul929207 Posted December 16, 2009 #2 Share Posted December 16, 2009 I don't think there is anything you can do before the cruise, but hope. Once you board, find out when and where the Maitre 'd will be taking such requess. Go and plead your case.

Colo Cruiser Posted December 16, 2009 #4 Share Posted December 16, 2009 Talk to the MD once onboard if you are still waitlisted. You will be fine.
Nancyquilts Posted December 16, 2009 #5 Share Posted December 16, 2009 I'd get in line early for the maitre d', as quite a few people will want to get traditional tables.
gertz Posted December 16, 2009 #6 Share Posted December 16, 2009 Most of the time you will have no problem. Just go to the MD soon as you can.
kimchee1212 Posted December 16, 2009 #7 Share Posted December 16, 2009 For our upcoming cruise, we booked and foudn ourselves waitlisted for the first time. We called and ask for our number and were only #6. We had cleared for second seating just 36 hours later. Call and ask for your number and if you don't clear by embarkation, just talk to the MD

Colo Cruiser Posted December 18, 2009 #9 Share Posted December 18, 2009 Thanks all, I'll follow the advice and see the the maitre d' when we board. On Embarkation day the time and place to see the MD will be listed in the Patter. It is usually around 2pm or so in one of the dining rooms. Get there early as the lines can be long. mnbruce Posted December 18, 2009 #10 Share Posted December 18, 2009 We booked our late January cruise on the CB about a month ago and were on the waitlist for the 2nd seating. Two weeks ago we were #5 on the list, yesterday we were#1.
Infi Posted December 18, 2009 #11 Share Posted December 18, 2009 Yes, do go and meet with the Maitre D' on boarding day. It doesn't take anything special, just be pleasant. On our last Christmas cruise, we were #254 on the waitlist and after meeting with the MD, got a table in traditional. Go EARLY (before the time listed in the Patter) as there is usually a long line of people.
