We live right off I-26 on Hwy 11 (Cherokee Foothills Scenic Hwy). We probably have 3 inches on the ground and it contiues to snow.Up the mountain, Asheville,NC is expecting one foot of snow.

We were in Charleston last weekend (rainy then too) to see a few plays for our Christmas trip.We love Charleston and try to visit 2-3 times a year--just a 3 hour drive straight down I-26---the first stop light I hit is on Meeting Street.
In Candler, NC next to Asheville we got 14 inces at my house.. I can not get home due to my Driveway on a hill and no power.. I have been at work since 8am on Friday Morning.
Shhhh, Pete. You're activating my native Philadelphian instinct to go stock up on gallons of milk and loaves of bread. Time to hunker down and watch the SEPTA bus try to get up the hill on City Line Avenue in front of Channel 6's studio.

I thought the east coast could handle snow. State of emergency? Stores closed?
Two weeks ago, we had 20" of snow and -12 temps, followed with another 8" of snow.Schools closed for one day, all stores were opened. We have few snow plows here and my street is still covered with a couple of inches of ice. All it takes is common sense and chains on your tires and you are good to go!
Maybe you need to bring a shovel and help us dig! It's not always as easy as it sounds. We don't get 20 inches everyday. I'm not sure where you live, but in a major metropolitan area, there is lots of snow to move and back roads that need clearing. The major arterys can be cleared quickly, but the back roads and parking lots take a bit longer. The stores close for the safety of all the employees who may not have cleared streets or four-wheel drives to get around. The Metro buses and trains were also not able to get around yesterday.
I think our raod crews did an excellent job, but for 24 hours the snow fell as fast as they could plow.
Today the sun is out-hopefully, they will make goood progress now
Hi All! I'm here in Tampa, Fla and we're always just "dreamin of a white Christmas"...If all this rain and high winds, were snow, we'd be having a blizzard, but instead it just flooding. It is suppose to get quite cold this weekend here though. Tomorrow night only suppose to get into the low 30's...Sunday our highs are only to 50. That's pretty cold for us, I know not compared to the rest of the NE...Be safe everyone, and throw a snowball or two for me:D
HA! January 08 we got snow flurries, but melted immediately when it touched the car or ground. That was low 20's and we were on our way to the Keys. It was pretty cool to see in Central Florida. I'm enjoying the cold weather right now but by Christmas Eve/Day, it's suppose to be back in the 80's.....what the hey?!?!

I might be seeing snow next month in Cinci. That'll be cool, but not for the reason I'm going there.

Could barely open the door this morning here. Too much snow, but we are used to it here.

My daughter just got back from Alaska and was stuck on the Washington DC tarmack for a while and then had a tough time driving home. You are correct, a lot of places do not have the equipment for an occassional snow fall. Where I grew up, Western Pa, nothing closed for snow and school might let out a little early for the students that took busses.
What??? We got maybe 6 inches and believe it or not getting out of the driveway was not too bad because they didn't block us in that much. Sorry about your snow Toni
I am guessing you are out in Long Island. My brother got 2 feet in West Virginia. My Mom lives in Jackson and the weather said 23.5" for them.

I guess I got lucky.
Haven't started yet. we got around 22 here. a cruise ship sounds good right about now! The dog refuses to go out.
Ha ha! My dog won't even go outside when there's a hard rain! Fortunately, I have an enclosed back porch with tile floors, nice wicker furniture, bookshelves.....and a bucket, mop, and bottle of Pine Sol! BTW - youngest DD went to U of M for two years.....guess she's a Half Terrapin? Hope that snow melts quickly!
