any bad experiences choosing fun saver room?

we are doing our very first cruise feb7 from long beach. we will spend very little time in the room so we picked an inside room.

the thing I am nervous about is choosing the fun saver where you don`t know room loaction until you arrive?

has this worked for the better in many cases? would hate to be right on the engine room or something.

You just answered your own question. If you are nervous about where you will end up, then you need to select a specific stateroom you feel you will be most comfortable at under the pricing structure to do so.

We've chosen GTY on 30 or so cruises, and have only gotten "undesirable" cabins twice. Both times the cabin assigned was at the extreme ends of the ship,,,once in the bow which was noisy from waves hitting the hull when underway, and once the next to last cabin in the stern, which had lots of "machinery noise" when underway. The other 28 times or so, we got very nice upgrades, or very nice mid ship cabins on the deck we paid for. I will almost always book GTY, or "fun saver" as that's the absolute best value. By the way, it's unusual to get your cabin assignment when you arrive at the port, (yes, it does happen occasionally). More often than not, your cabin will be assigned right after final payment is made.
