cjankowski Posted May 21, 2004 #26 Share Posted May 21, 2004 We are driving from Michigan and have never been to the big city. My question is how far is it from city to the pier. Is it a long drive or what. Rhapsody of the Seas-Jan 2004 Voyager of the Seas-Sept 2004
trish1c Posted May 21, 2004 #27 Share Posted May 21, 2004 Yes you can go to Mass at St. Patrick's. It's wonderful if you've never been. Here's a link: http://www.ny-archdiocese.org/pastoral/cathedral_about.html The Mass schedule is SUNDAY MASS SCHEDULE: Saturday: 5:30 PM Mass (fulfills Sunday Obligation) Sunday Morning Masses: 7:00, 8:00, 9:00, 10:15 (Cardinal's Mass) Sunday Afternoon Masses: 12:00, 1:00, 4:00, 5:30 Enjoy. If you go, you will be near Rockafeller Center & can walk parts of 5th Avenue. Trish
Rare Got2Cruise Posted May 21, 2004 #28 Share Posted May 21, 2004 Five Hours is not a lot of time. You can spend an hour waiting to get through the Holland or Lincoln Tunnel each way. Go to Liberty State Park. you can check it out at www.libertystatepark.com There is ferry service to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Liberty State Park is in Jersey City, NJ, which is the next town over from Bayonne. You can just hang out in the park and enjoy the beautiful views if you'd like. Another idea is that your hotel probably has some sort of sightseeing tour that leaves from the hotel. I don't think five hours is enough time though. Cappy1012 Posted May 21, 2004 #30 Share Posted May 21, 2004 I live in NJ and woundn't try to get in and out of the city in 5 hours. With security the way it is in the tunnel all it would take is one sucpicious van and you will miss the ship. The Meadowland State Fair is going on during your stay. Also, Hoboken has some great restaurants and views of the city.
clingandclatter Posted May 22, 2004 #31 Share Posted May 22, 2004 re: Serendipity in NYC They DO take reservations, however, the amount of tables that they take reservations for is EXTREMELY limited. Your best bet is to call a couple of weeks in advance and even then you may not get in. Otherwise the only thing I can say is show up right when it opens. Even then there's sometimes a line already. serendipity3.com ~*~ Disney Wonder 9/02 ~*~ RCCL Splendour of the Seas 4/04 ~*~
