gemsm Posted December 30, 2009 #52 Share Posted December 30, 2009 Let's say you get to take one of these cruises only, which would you choose? One night CTN in a Garden Villa. Two night CTN in a Deluxe Owners Suite. Three night cruise in a Courtyard Villa. Five night cruise in a penthouse. One week cruise in a mini suite. Ten day cruise in a balcony. Twelve day cruise in an outside. Two week cruise in an inside. Assume all DSC and tips were paid in full. Which would you pick? (This was a family discussion over the holidays and opinions differed.) 10 day in a balcony...7 is too few...12 is too many :)

Think about this in terms of weeks instead of nights. That is 1 week in a Garden Villa or 14 weeks in an inside. I will take the inside without question !!!!! DMH15 Posted December 31, 2009 Author #55 Share Posted December 31, 2009 Love everyones responses. Seems like the leaders (in no particular order) are the: 5 night - penthouse 10 night - balcony 14 night - inside I thought some would pick the 1 night - GV????? I am sorry, I do not know how to initiate a poll or I would have.

Seems like the leaders (in no particular order) are the: 5 night - penthouse 10 night - balcony 14 night - inside I thought some would pick the 1 night - GV????? I am sorry, I do not know how to initiate a poll or I would have. I thought about it, had a week in the GV with 2 other couples and was absolutely the best vacation of our lives... but if faced with that choice as a single couple, would likely pick the Deluxe Owner's Suite. As long as there's a private hot tub!!! Also, the hassle of get on / get off immediately would not seem to be worth it. So, instead of the penthouse (which was my original vote) I suppose my real vote would be to get 2 other couples and for the same price (approximately) of 3 penthouses, go for the GV!! parrothead0918 Posted January 1, 2010 #58 Share Posted January 1, 2010 14 day inside is for us. The longer on a ship the better. Recently booked the 12 day repo on the Dawn for 10/10/10 and would have booked an inside stateroom, but for the availability of BA 10230 which we promptly booked :D. Twelve day cruise in an outside. Two week cruise in an inside. Assume all DSC and tips were paid in full. Which would you pick? (This was a family discussion over the holidays and opinions differed.) Even though I love a balcony, I love long cruises even more, so my choice would be 12 days in an outside -- even an obstructed view. All I need is some daylight. I've cruised twice in an inside cabin (short 4-day cruises) and wouldn't want to do a long cruise inside.
lambs2 Posted January 2, 2010 #61 Share Posted January 2, 2010 14 days in an inside would be our choice! The more days on board a ship the BETTER, for us!! We just had a BA balcony stateroom for our 13 day Panama Canal transit, but will be going back to an inside for our 15 day Transatlantic in late April. No problem making that transition for us!!! caissonqueen Posted January 2, 2010 #63 Share Posted January 2, 2010 Maybe you should ask me this question in two months. Because then I will have sailed in a penthouse for 9 days on the Dawn. :D My minimum category is a balcony. I tend to spend some time in my cabin taking naps or just relaxing away from others. I like the option to go outside and see the water hitting the boat or looking up into the sky. My best memories of a cruise are those quiet moments on the balcony, looking at all the stars in a sky not polluted by city lights. Seeing the sun rise or set, feel the warm air, or just having a sheltered spot in the rain. :)
mek Posted January 2, 2010 #64 Share Posted January 2, 2010 It really would depend on the itinerary, but assuming it is something tropical and not a Med or Exotic cruise, I would choose the 10 day balcony.
Cubuff1 Posted January 2, 2010 #65 Share Posted January 2, 2010 Five days in a Penthouse for me. The suite perks and huge cabins are worth at least five days in a normal cabin.

chachi Posted January 4, 2010 #68 Share Posted January 4, 2010 I don't mind an inside cabin. I would always choose the longer cruise over a nicer room. All I do is sleep and shower there. I would be in the room long enough to enjoy the benefits of a suite.
OceanDreaming2 Posted January 5, 2010 #69 Share Posted January 5, 2010 I vote for the 10 days in a balcony - especially if it's an aft stateroom. Next choice would be the 5 days in a suite! The perks are sweet! Is the OP going to compile the results?
flashdog_1 Posted January 5, 2010 #70 Share Posted January 5, 2010 Let me make an assumption. I am buying this cruise. All are approximately the same price, right? So I've set aside the money. I've done a couple of two nighters, for the experience of having a mini suite and concierge class on Celebrity. Not long enough to even consider the higher priced cabins for so short a trip. For my saved money I'd do 10 nights in a balcony for Alaska or Canada/New England. If I had 3 in the room I'd take 7 nights in a mini suite. If it were very port intensive I'd do 12 nights in an outside with only one other person (Europe). If I just needed a vacation and could rope others into traveling with me, I'd choose 5 nights in a penthouse since I've never sailed in one. But if I won this cruise I'd definitely take 5 nights in a penthouse regardless of # of passengers.
