Orator Posted January 3, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 3, 2010 For the best views should I select a port or starboard cabin for a TA from Fort Lauderdale to Barcelona? Or, doesn't it really matter? Thanks
CanWeGoYet? Posted January 3, 2010 #2 Share Posted January 3, 2010 I picked starboard for more sun. All you will see is water for most of it, either way. Mine was not Mediterranean, so I would not know if the view was better one way or another for the Mediterranean ports.
Cruise Arizona Posted January 3, 2010 #3 Share Posted January 3, 2010 We have had two TA's both going west bound. One on aft sunny side and one bow shady side. We definitely prefer the sunny side in November, but because it was aft, it also afforded fantastic views. On the shady side we had nice views but really couldn't use the balcony on the cooler days. smeyer418 Posted January 3, 2010 #4 Share Posted January 3, 2010 POSH which means, supposedly, "port out starboard home" was meant to AVOID the sun.(its for going from Great Britain to India). but then again they didn't have balconies or air conditioning and tried to avoid the sun. JanineM Posted January 3, 2010 #5 Share Posted January 3, 2010 Starboard if you want direct sunlight - or at least brighter light and not just shadow.
richsea Posted January 3, 2010 #6 Share Posted January 3, 2010 Since an eastbound TA is in the springtime, I would choose a starboard cabin to take advantage of the daytime sunshine. Ports are a crapshoot as to which is better. Enjoy your TA, they are the best!!!!

Cruisin Kay D Posted January 4, 2010 #8 Share Posted January 4, 2010 We had a starboard cabin on an eastbound TA last April on Voyager of Seas, and had lots of good sun and very little wind -- but we had a very smooth crossing with nearly flat seas for most of the sea days!! We sailed from Galveston, with 4 sea days to Bermuda, then 3 sea days to Azores, then 2 sea days to Cork Ireland, then Cherbourg France next day and last day at Southampton England. It was a great itinerary!!!
