I confess to 5 pairs.....thongs (flip-flops) , a mocassin style flat for non-beach port excursions, my Nikes which I wear on the plane/onto ship, and two pair of evening shoes. I could use the Nikes for port excusions but they don't look too elegant.

I know each cruise my choices become more specialised. I hope I can stop at 5.

As much as I'd like to cut back, I can't find a way to take less than 5 pair, this includes the shoes on my feet, so I only pack 4 pair.

1 pair formal shoes

1 pair casual night shoes

casual sandals

flip flops

sneakers for walking laps (can't walk fast enough in casual sandals or flip flops)

I take way too many pairs of shoes....9 out of 10 crusies, we drive to the port...I can take as many as I like :-)

I know so many that frown upon overpacking, but honestly, we enjoy it!!

Dont feel bad CruiseDivaNj I always take one small carry on luggage just for my shoes for the cruise.

PRICELESS!!!! I feel like Im in good comapany now...I really was concerned if I was going to look silly with various shoes with me!

I plan to take:

{subject to change,never know when you will come across a slammin deal!}

3 pairs ON flip flops, one black, one lime green and one dark purple

1 pair strappy heels

1 pair tennis shoes {ok, I know Id said I had decided No,but the walk track got me}

This is only a 5 day sailing. Im sure there would be more if it were longer!

I guess that isn't too bad, maybe I will add another pair.

We are doing a 42 nighter in february and so far my shoe tally is: 1 pair sneakers, 3 pairs of espadrilles - cream, brown lace and black and cream, 2 thongs (flipflops) with wedge heels (cos I hate flats) 1 black and silver beaded evening shoe, 1 bronze sandal,1 red high heeled court shoe (just wicked with a long black side-split dress) 1 pair of multi-coloured ribbon high heels (all colours of the rainbow, so will go with anything if desperate) Jeez, that's 10 pairs! As we will be doing some hiking in the rainforest I was thinking of taking my hiking boots, but perhaps that's a shoe too far for 2 days excursions, what do you think. We are driving to the port, by the way. (I think I still need some water shoes but that's easier said than done here in the winter.)

WOW!!! A 42 night cruise! you rock! You will need all those shoes you mentioned! Good For you!!!

AS for Michelle and her smart comment...tounge stuck out!!!{shes my friend,btw,if yall didnt get that,and my roomie on the cruise}

So.....What about a pracitcal pair of comfy brown sandals? If I dont want to wear flip flops, to kinda jazz up my outfit. Ive already got my clothes. They are double duty. I hit the clearnace rack at my local Cato the end of the season b/c I have NO summer shirts, Im a SAHM so jammie pants and big tee's are my uniform.... What about these? They're Clarks, and after it taking forever to break them in,they are quite comfy, but not to offend,I dont want them to look too Grannyish. {Im 28} AND they cover up my foot ink for which im proud of. For the record NO it did not hurt there.

Usually three pairs at the most.

1. Dress shoes that match all dresses for dinner every night

2. Maryjane type skeetchers - not gym shoe look - where them on the plane

3. Flip flops for pool

So I only need to pack 2 pairs and the flipflops go inside my husbands shoes. LOL

Ok i packed 4 pairs of shoes for my hawaiian cruise but brought back 5 pairs.

My nikes and wore them on the plane. We hiked diamond head and did some outdoorsy excursions. I never bought Nikes until like 3 years ago and now i am addicted. I bought a pair while in hawaii which accounts for the extra pair of shoes.

A pair of flip flops (thongs) for the pool and beach

Black patterned open toed flat ballet shoes for evening wear

Gold strappy flat sandles for when i got sick of my sneakers, lucky i did as my feet got sore and i think a little swollen and wouldnt fit in the black ones

My list are... my beige stilletto D&Gs (Most comfy high heels I've ever worn wear with jeans and trousers etc). My sparkly high sandals (great for formal nights and evenings to sparkle up a boring outfit). Black flats. Black high heeled mary janes. Nude very high peep toes (go with one of my formal outfits and are my fave pair of shoes - they have red soles...) flip flops for the beach. trainers for the gym. and more sturdy sandals for walking... SO that's pack 7 and wear one... Too much???

You didn't have a choice for me in your poll - 15 pair!

On our 7 day cruise in early Jan, I packed 13 pair, wore one and ended up buying 1 pair in New Orleans the morning before we left, so 15! I didn't realize I had that many until I unpacked and took a count, but I actually wore 12 of them, so I didn't over pack by much.

3 pairs of flip flops (1 casual and 2 dressier)

3 pairs of high espadrilles - black, brown and light beige

2 pairs of flat maryjanes - black and brown

1 pair of water shoes

4 pair of black heels - 3 that I packed and 1 that I bought

1 pair of carved heel wedge mules

1 pair of cowboy boots I wore on the trip down and back (and for 2-step lessons on the ship!)

I loved having all of the options and although I am impressed with those who can bring only a few, I will probably bring just as many on my next trip - there were a few that I wanted to bring and just ran out of room!!

I take as many pair of Old Navy flip-flops (I'm another big fan, TNMama!) as match the t-shirts I'm bringing, plus a turquoise pair that matches my favourite bathing suit, to wear to the pool. I usually average about 6-7 pairs of flipflops -- they don't weigh anything so why not take lots?

I bring at least three pairs of shoes for evenings, two high-heeled sandals of some kind (usually one black and one neutral -- right now, I'm loving a pair of Donald Pliner slides in a champagne colour, which tend to go with everything that the black ones don't), and one or two pairs of evening shoes/sandals of some kind, depending on which cocktail dresses I bring with me. That's for a week-long cruise; for a longer cruise, I'll bring three pairs of "regular" sandals and maybe three pairs of evening shoes.

I only bring tennis shoes if I know I'll be using the gym. I don't like to wear them outside of working out -- I don't like the way they look with non-workout clothes and besides, they're too bloody hot for walking about in. My feet roast to death if I have to wear socks, unless it's below 30F degress outside.

For shore excursions with too much walking for flipflops, I wear Docksiders, sockless of course!

I normally take about 3 or 4 pairs of shoes.

1 or 2 pairs Crocs flip flops (usually just take my black ones)

Black strappy heels

White flip flops or sandals

I dont even own a pair of tennis shoes, lol! I recently bought some new ballet flats so I will probably take a few of those this yr too!

I usually bring : Dressy black patent or metallic strappy slingbacks or sandals for formal/dressy evenings.

White, metalic, or other neutral sandal for other evenings

Comfortable walking sandals for excursions (I wear these onto the ship)

Pool shoes/flipflops

I might bring water shoes or sneakers depending on activities planned.

I don't bring shoes that are brand new, but ones that I have worn enough times to know if they are confortable (and I mean comfortable after a few hours, not just when you first put them on.)

I like your tip Simplelife. Theres nothing worse than being out in shoes and them killing you only shortly afterwards!
