Rare uktog Posted January 11, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 11, 2010 Here is an excerpt from an email we had from friends on board - sounds like they have hit some storm but they also say all is well today- except for those who suffer from seasickness We left the sheltered Huanuco harbor at around 6pm and I think we went right into theeye of a storm. on the television monitor theyreported the winds and water condition as follows: Wind: 58mph to 60 mph Wind Direction: 060 Magnetic Course: 090 Sea State: very high waves and very steep waves. We had a balcony on the leeward side and with the boatlisting at least 20 degrees- from the 7th floor it was prettyexciting to sit out there. Oddly, they didn't have the bow Camera on last night. (Iwonder why??) Apparently the piano player upchucked all over the piano. While they were attended him- the piano took off and was heading for a bunch ofelderly- but stopped just in time by the waiters. Glass balcony partitiondividers were all broken in the balconies in front of the ship. Were at Sea this morning with 25mph winds and a moderateswell- and not a cloud in the sky
WooKeef Posted January 11, 2010 #2 Share Posted January 11, 2010 I guess you never do know what you will hit. I am a bit surprised they did not try to go around the storm though as I have often heard happens. I am sorry to hear about the poor piano player...I would have probably been a bit ill too:o. Glad it passed quickly though and did not seem to phase your friends a bit. I guess they will be busy making some repairs soon.:o

suec12 Posted January 11, 2010 #4 Share Posted January 11, 2010 Oh I am a terrible person - I laughed as I visualized the "piano on the loose" - but seriously, I hope all the only lingering effect is some woozy passengers.
Druke I Posted January 11, 2010 #5 Share Posted January 11, 2010 "Piano on the loose" can be very risky. Years ago (12-84), on the late great Constitution, between Los Angeles and Honolulu, piano on stage broke its guy wires in heavy seas, came off the stage, narrowly missing several passengers, and crashed through the glass doors of the casino, and then sent slot machines every which way. Luckily no one was hurt. That was a rough trip.

No worries...I had a chuckle myself.:D;)
