7166 on Enchantment

Recommended Posts

My DW and I are booked in this JS for the Repo cruise in April and I did a search about noise in the Aft cabins due to the Spotlight Lounge under them. Some people say its not too bad and some say its bad. My DW and I have late seating for dinner, then its usually back to the room to change and out and about with us ending at the casino and back to the room around midnight and out on the balcony for a little to wind down, then to bed. The motion of the ship is great to us as it puts us right to sleep so we arent worried about that. What does concern me is if there is loud music after Midnight. Dont make me come down there in

my Joe Boxers.... I have also read that the rooms above may even be worse as they hear deck chairs slidding around at 2 - 4 am

Your thoughts...??

i was in one of them and heard lots of noise.(karaoke)....but my pal karina (another CCer) was in one on the corner and heard nothing!

YMMV...i wouldn't book another aft JS over a lounge again.....but that's just me....

if you're a night owl you're fine. the one other issue for mom and i was not so much the motion, but the constant vibration that shook open drawers...again, YMMV

We were in the opposite corner, 7666, in October. You'll get different opinions from everyone, but we loved it. If I stopped to listen for it, I did notice sounds from the lounge below, but we usually weren't in the room, and it wasn't loud enough to bother us - and it wasn't every night. We were always back in the room around midnight and I didn't have any trouble sleeping. I would have trouble with morning noises, but late night I guess I'm too tired for it to bother me. One thing I just remembered - the stage for a band or whatever is on the port side of that lounge, so 7166 might hear more noise than 7666 - I don't know.

There is definitely more vibration back there, especially when approaching ports - some are bothered by it some aren't. We had the same room on Grandeur in 2008 - so we have more than one experience to go by - obviously we didn't mind the vibration. The balcony is just awesome - I could have done a cartwheel out there if I'd moved the loungers out of the way. Those two JS's (corners on deck 7) are the only ones that have the big walk in closet also - really nice. It's also really quiet - no traffic by your door because you're at the end of the hall. The aft JS's are a little narrower than the ones on the side, but the large balcony made up for it for us.

We'll probably never have another side balcony if we can help it - definitely sticking with the afts. Our main reason is quiet, wake watching, and large balcony. I like the extra walking also - I feel less guilty at dinner! We're in 8168 (aft corner D1) on Radiance in October. Hope this helps!

We had 7166 for a 5 day back in August. We usually get to bed around midnight, so most of the time we did not notice the music from the lounge below. However, one night they had the Quest in the lounge, and it lasted until a little after 1am. The music was loud, clear, and distinct, with LOTS of thumpa thumpa bass. I've seen the Quest several times and the music was so loud that and I knew exactly when they were making the men parade around in the makeup and heels.

Would I book 7166 again? Yes, because the balcony is enormous, there's a walk-in closet, and the vast majority of the time we had no problem with sound. Just that one night we had to wait a bit before we went to sleep. If you are light sleepers who are in bed by 10pm, I'd advise against 7166. If you are usually up to at least midnight, then I'd go for it.

I've been in 7666 in Enchantment, also an aft JS, and heard no noise. Then again, we didn't usually return to our cabin until 12 or 1am, but the lounge was probably still going. We enjoyed the huge balcony so much that we are booked in the same cabin again for an upcoming cruise.

We had an aft balcony on Enchantment on Dec 7 back in 2006. The only night we heard anything, the cruise staff had a party til 1am. My kids slept through it, and it didnt bother my wife or me. The view from the balcony is worth it.

My wife and I just booked this room for the 02/28/11 12 night cruise out of Baltimore. This will be our first aft cabin. We did a Cruise Critic cabin crawl on our last cruise (Grandeur) and loved the large aft corner balcony.

I'm the karina who stayed in 7166 and heard nothing..on the other hand, i tend to stay out til the wee hours. My sister, who goes to bed earlier, said she didn't notice anything in particular.

My trip report and pix of the cabin can be found in my sig.

I am so glad we booked this cabin. As I mentioned, since we are usually out late, if there is any noise, going by what you all say, we should miss it or be tired enough to sleep through it. Im sure my wife will love the big walk in closet some of you mentioned too. I am looking forward to basking in the sun during our sea days out on th elarge balcony.!! Thanks again for all the great info and pix. !!! if there are more comments or pix, Ill be happy to read them !!

Thanks again !!!!!

Keith & Diane :)
