PictureMom Posted January 14, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 14, 2010 I have been pronouncing this Doh-min-i-cuh. My mom was watching a show the other day about humming birds and the foreign sounding man pronounced is Dom-i-nee-cuh. I'm thinking now that I've been saying it wrong. Does anyone know??
Corralejo Posted January 15, 2010 #2 Share Posted January 15, 2010 It's pronounced "Dom-E-knee-ka". I remember by thinking of the word domino.
Snail_Pace Posted January 15, 2010 #3 Share Posted January 15, 2010 They use that pronounciation to help differentiate the Nature Island from the Dominican Republic. I have seen more that one instance where someone got the 2 nations confused.
Aplmac Posted January 15, 2010 #4 Share Posted January 15, 2010 Domih-NEEKah ...not DoMINincah. The pronunciation is quite the opposite from how we all say Dominican Republic. ;) .
