Thanking you advance Explorer 2/5/10 Unless you are in a full suite or are D+ or have a gift-giving TA, there will be nothing in the way of a gift waiting in your cabin when you board. cb at sea Posted January 17, 2010 #3 Share Posted January 17, 2010 There's no fruit in the room, but there's PLENTY in the WJ--just get what you want and bring it to your cabin, if you wish. Buying things (and paying extra) that are avail. on the ship, like fruit, canapes, etc...seems redundant....you can get all that stuff, and it's already included in your fare! IBookHePays Posted January 17, 2010 #4 Share Posted January 17, 2010 I ordered a bottle of wine and a fruit basket to be sent to my brother's cabin for his first cruise. They appreciated the wine, the fruit basket wasn't anything special, but it since he's diabetic, I couldn't order the chocolate covered strawberries! If it was just for myself, I'd just take what I wanted at lunch:)

debates2 Posted May 8, 2010 #8 Share Posted May 8, 2010 You can order a birthday cake. I had our TA handle those arrangements.
Marie51 Posted May 8, 2010 #9 Share Posted May 8, 2010 I ordered a birthday cake once for my grandson. They sang Happy Birthday in the dining room and then we had the cake for dessert. There was about half the cake left that we took back to our cabin.
Rare EngIceDave Posted May 9, 2010 #10 Share Posted May 9, 2010 We had a fruit basket in our cabin on one of our cruises on CCL (from casino mgr) and we never touched it. There is so much fruit and food on board and so readily available, you don't even think about the fruit basket....we literally just watched it wilt before our eyes during the week. Bottle of wine, chocolate strawberries, something like that might be worth it, but in my opinion, a fruit basket is an absolute waste of money since there's tons of free fruit all over all the time
Correia_Cruiser Posted August 5, 2010 #11 Share Posted August 5, 2010 I get that the fruit is readily available (and was convinced) but when looking at the fruit/wine package vs. just the wine, it's significantly less to buy the package! RCCL's "Culinary Collection" online list, has the Fruit Basket & Solaire (don't know what that is) by Mondavi, Cabernet for $35.It looks like the same bottle of wine is $66.70 if I buy it alone. So doesn't it make sense to buy the fruit basket and get the wine for half off? Am I missing something here, or is it a loophole in the system? Thanking you advance Explorer 2/5/10  I always cruise with other couples. Each cruise I order Korbel and strawberries, and two bottles of wine (one red one white) with cheese and crackers, and have my own personal welcome aboard party. Since I have also been known to have "alcohol' hidden in my cabin, a couple of days I host happy hours (room service goodies) about one hour before dinner. Makes cruise enjoyable. If no happy hours in cabin, hit champagne bar for drink prior to dinner, or wait for DW while she is getting ready and meet her there. JACK IS SAILING AGAIN

Correia_Cruiser Posted August 6, 2010 #15 Share Posted August 6, 2010 I think you only get 2 glasses of wine with that package- not a bottle. I asked the lady on the 800 line, and she said it was for the bottle. "That wine is $29 on RC's wine list. " If it's only $29 for the bottle, that makes much more sense. John Henry, where did you find that info? I looked online at their "gear" store, and the only Mondavi Cab I could find was the $66 one. Maybe it's more to order it through the gear store and have it delivered? If it's only $30, I wouldn't mind prebuy it, or even buying it once we get on the ship. Any tips?
