Taxes In Port...

I have done a search and do not seem to fidn the answer I am looking for so here it goes...

I have read that if you purchase your Soda Card while in port you have to pay taxes. What else do you have to pay taxes on? DOD's? Excursions? Spa treatments? Just curious if I need to wait until legal waters before I charge anything on my Sign and Sail.

Also, I read that only certain things will be allowed to drink while in Port in Galveston. What does that mean?

Thanks in advance!:)

I've purchased drinks while in port and didn't pay tax. Paid the 15% gratuity, but not a tax. I also purchased my soda card at the bar before we departed Ft Lauderdale and wasn't charged a tax, but again the automatic 15% gratuity was added on, just like it is for every bar purchase. I've never paid a tax for spa services while in a port, and I usually go to the spa on port days---less expensive and a lot more quiet.
