What are the odds of actually tendering in to DI? I have heard that they are not good. We'd be attempting it in December.

We were on the Pacific Princess last February and March for a b2b from Fort Lauderdale to the Amazon and back. We made it to Devil's Island via tender both times.

Our Captain on the Royal said in his experience it was "50/50" and we missed it.

We tendered in November of 2008 while sailing on the Grand without any problems at all.

We missed this port in Dec. 2007, on the Royal Princess, because of the weather conditions.

We tendered in off Holland America's Prinsendam on Dec 4, 2009

We tendered from Royal Princess 4 weeks ago but I can see why it is missed so often as the swell was sever and it was very tricky getting on and off at the ship. I was very grateful for the help of the crew members. Good luck because it is a fascinating place. I would recommend going round the Island by walking to the right as you get off the tender so that you end your walk at the buildings. It was an easier walk.

On an April 2006 24 day round trip FLL to Amazon River, we tendered in on the way down but were unable todo so on the way back so the Captain's guess of 50/50 is accurate in my opinion.

Thanks for all your responses. 50/50 sounds about what I expected. I'll start keeping my fingers crossed starting now.
