Tarquinia

Some have previously posted that they enjoyed their Tarquinia excursions. We are not in that group as we found most of the Etruscan ruins to be somewhat boring and too darn "ruined." We find a visit to Ostia Antica much more interesting, but this is about an hour from Civitavecchia (its located close to the FCO airport).

I think Hank hit the nail on the head. If you are history nerds, or "ruins" hounds, you'll love Tarquinia. (I did :)) I did find it pretty atmospheric in the area around the tombs -- eery, but in a good way. The museum is well worth a visit, but again, I love museums.
