duty free shops

There are no duty-free shops at the ports at either Rome or Venice. The Rome port is very industrial -- not much there. If you want, you can take the (free) port shuttle bus to the port gate, walk into town (Civitavecchia) and look for a supermarket where you can purchase wine.

In Venice, there is a store called COOP that is located at Piazzale Roma, which is about a 15-minute walk from where ships dock.

One thing about Duty Free..they can $$$...you only save tax...much better to buy a lot of things unless of course last minute,at a store especially the wine.
