there are several attractions in Galveston e.g.. Schlitterban(sp?) Moody Gardens, and shopping on the strand. there is also the tall sail ship Elissa, and a oil rig(Texas Star??) tour... there is a great picture show about the 1900 storm downtown and multiple good places to eat....

It's not clear whether you're coming in the day of your cruise or a day earlier:confused:. If you're coming in the day you cruise you'll probably be better off to check in on the ship and then get back off and explore the Strand district.

It's fun to explore (everything from very modern shops to a "hippie" shop out of the late '60's :)). We really enjoy this area.

I'd agree that you should check Galveston.com, if you haven't already. It's a really good site to find out what's going on in Galveston (and there seems to be something going on all the time!)

If you have the time I'd suggest you come in at least a day early if not two! Galveston is a very fun place :D!

JMHO, but whoa! You can't do everything in one visit ! Out of the things you've posted, I'd go to the Strand (it's downtown Galveston, anyone can direct you there) and then have drinks and dinner at The Spot.

there is also a restraunt near the dock called Willie G's that we like... you can see the harbour traffic from there, and if it is warm enough, there is a bar next to it that you can sit outside on the deck and watch the harbour traffic...

two weeks from tomorrow we board the Ecstasy again... can hardly wait!!!

Thank you for all the insight on Galveston!! It is a HUGE help to our experience!

I'll need to develop a time management plan!! LOL!!

We only have a car rental until 11:00am! So, walking, taxi and ferry will be key to our ability to see as must as possible!

Thanks Again!

Chuck

The Elissa is very interesting if you enjoy history. It is beautiful and a very rare treasure. It it right near the cruise terminal.
