Emerald Cruise Jan 31- Feb 7

This was our 2nd cruise (both with Princess) and it was fantastic again. Last year my wife and I were on Ruby Princess and this ship is identical. We have a great time last year and this year was better, for the most part.

First off we were 14 of us in total, all family. Surprisingly no one went overboard lol. The staff on this ship were spectactular, better then last year. Everyone acknowledged you as you walked past them and we got to know a few of the staff while on the ship. The boat seem to rock a bit more this year more then last... but that could be weather related.

The ports were Princess Cays, St. Marrten, St. Thomas and Grand Turk.

Great time at Princess Cays (Sunny), St. Marrten we loved the island and beach... did the wave runner and volleyball very fun. St. Thomas went to Magens Bay, very peaceful and quite the opposite of St. Marrten weather was very cloudy so took away from the experience we had and Grand Turk was stunning but not much to do and it started to rain around noon.

We saw a hilarious comedian, Phil Tag who has been on the Jay Leno show and an amazing juggler... can't remember his name. Played at the Casino like we usually do and lost... who cares we are on vacation.

We were very happy, probably about 4 family members wouldn't go cruising again but different strokes for different folks... don't understand why but hey not my problemo.

We stayed in room E632 and family members stayed in E630, E628, E626, E631, E633 and E501. We took pictures of our views if anyone wants to know how obstructed they were...

Thanks

What were the times of the evening shows and what time did you go? I keep reading posts of passengers who can't get into the theatre to see the shows. Are the main theatres too small for the amount of passengers?

Thanks.

I appreciate the quick review. Any food highlights or things to avoid?

Highlights... Every dinner we had in the dining room was incredible. Had breakfast once in the buffet... everything is better in the dining room. We would usually go to the international cafe after breakfast and picked up some FREE deserts that were delicious.

Last year we went to a specialty restaurant which charges a cover charge... save your money food is just as good in the dining room if not better imo

We were usually at the shows at least 1/2 hour before. The shows were in the princess theatre and explorers lounge...

I will be posting a video on youtube shortly. I will let you guys know when its up.

Enjoyed reading your review. We will be on the Emerald March 28.

Any food that you would recommend or not recommend. Did you eat in the dining room or the buffet.

Always eat in the dining room, buffet just doesn't compare to dining room. Pizza is great beside the pool and they also have soft serve ice cream.

thanks for your review. glad to hear you had a great time! we will be on the Emerald with my family in exactly ONE MONTH :D

did you do the sanctuary pool at all and was it worth the $$ if you did?

any "complaints" ??

thanks!

Umm.. if I had to complain.. it would be the weather wasn't perfect at St. Thomas and Grand turk. Cloudy and rained in Grand Turk. And the fact we went with 12 family members, a few were grumpy due to the weather and the motion of the ship. Nothing major but was a bit more rocky then last year.

Thanks for your review. We are leaving in 6 weeks! Anything we must try and do??

Hello, depends on what you like I guess. In St. Maarten we rented the waverunners which were a blast. In Grand Turk don't bother going to Governers Beach, instead hang out at Margaritaville just beside the port. Every island you can do your own thing and save money by not booking excursions thru Princess.

Eat eat eat... try the pizza, have a snack at the international cafe in the morning, watch the shows... enjoy the casino... participate in the pool events. That's one thing about this cruise, hardly any participation in fun events around the pool, which made me win one of the contests lol.

Slideshow is up on youtube of our trip, slideshow shows all rooms our family stayed in which includes E632 (first photo), E630, E628, E626...

Search for Emerald Cruise 2010 or by user under advanced search and look for bobbie170. You will also see a video from last year on the Ruby Princess which shows street performers in the piazza
