I missed that one! I'm going to have to go back and watch the series again! Onslow was my favorite and Daisy was a very close second.
How about that car Onslow drove?:D
I believe that the car is a Ford Cortina and yes, it's a beauty ( Phil, is that right?). I remember test driving one of those, I guess, in the '60's, it was the sports model and it would go like stink!

I have no idea how many times I have watched episodes of Keeping Up Appearances " but they never seem to lose their charm and I just keep roaring.....same with Waiting for God.

As librarylady said , Illinois went smoke free in ALL public buildings. While in some bars in my area the owners still allow people to smoke in their bars, I won't go in them. Looking at the trends across the country more and more states are going smoke free, a sign of the times.:D:D:D:D
Not the Duff, but mmmm chocolate.......

And you are right about the make of car:)

Phil
Couldn't agree more about the chocolate ( and I am not allowed to have it anymore ) but I do remember that Cortina. The one that I drove was a real Q-ship, almost as quick as my TR-4.

My wife and I are both fascinated by the thought that not only are pretty much all restaurants smoke-free here in North Carolina, but we have difficulty picturing smoke-free pubs in the UK and defense de fumer in the Bistros of Paris?!!! Who'ld of pictured that ten years ago........

I am still going to buy you that pint, Phil.

After a particularly disappointing TA cruise on Princess where our balcony neighbors were chain smokers, we have resolved to take X as much as possible. We are frequent cruisers, & wished X had more varied itineraries. So if we do cruise on a line allowing balcony smoking, it will just have to be an inside cabin. Why waste $ on a balcony you may not be able to use. As to the Carnival try at a non smoking ship, it was doomed because of the brand. Party ships attract smokers. I do not cruise Carnival, but not because of it's smoking policy. Every one needs to recognize what they want out of a cruise, choose the ship/line accordingly.
We just booked our first cruise ever. We chose Celebrity just because of the smoking policy. I didn't even look at lines that allow smoking in the cabins or balconies or dining rooms.
Smoking is no longer allowed in ANY dining rooms, and many, many areas of any ships... Balconies, yes... Thank goodness!

I think that the point intended was that on Celebrity Ships smoking is not allowed on any balconies and only in very specific areas.
I also chose Celebrity based on their non-smoking policy and would not switch. I don't care how good service/food/entertainment, etc. may be on another line, I could not enjoy it if I had to breathe in a smoky atmosphere.
In Illinois (and many other states) smoking is banned in restaurants, bars and casinos. As a result, I am able to avoid smoking entirely (other than in front of some bars!) and want my hard earned cruise vacation to be the same.
One note of concern for me on Equinox was the fact that there were multiple smoking areas including one inside the Sky Lounge and in an area betw. the Solarium and the pool. I certainly hope X is not catering to the smokers who complained (after all, they have plenty of other cruise lines to choose from) and relaxing their policies. Imo, they will lose business for this reason, not because they have a stringent non-smoking policy.
I am allergic to smoke so I was very happy when I heard Celebrity had such a policy, especially the non smoking on verandas. That has been a problem on other cruises. I can't wait for our cruise on Solstice in April and the veranda smoke free air!
Thank you X, I will even be able to go to the bar in the Casino, other ships usually let people smoke in there and I can't go. I might even give them my donation! LOL I've avoided gambling because of the smoking in the past.
I understand how hard it is to quit such a bad habit. My father died of lung cancer at 58, so I have first hand experience in that, but there are many avenues of treatment available to the addicted smokers and I hope more will try them as the country becomes smoke free and maybe even the world!
Well a person can wish can't they.
yes, but were they winning? LOL
To be frank, NO, the slots were the tightest I've ever seen. And it didn't make a difference if you were playing penny machines or dollar, they all sucked. But the tables were jammed with people standing two deep for a seat.

Well, if attitude toward the strict smoking policy is any indication, sounds like Celebrity is doing just fine. That's very encouraging that other lines will eventually tighten up their smoking policies! Hopefully, one day I will be able to return to balcony cruising on Princess! Meanwhile, if I'm going to pay for a balcony, I'll see you on Celebrity!

Thanks to everyone with first-hand experience on Celebrity ships for weighing in on this!

So glad that you will never sail Princess! More room for us sinners!
Doesn't have anything to do with sinning,it's being able to breath that counts. Sinning doesn't bother other people, smoking does, enjoy the other cruise lines as much as we do Celebrity.Very thankful that now we have a choice.

Of course, many people don't like smoke or smokers, and that is understandable. The only thing I have a problem with is that some non-smokers want completely smoke-free ships... My point is that smokers have rights too, and there are now very few places where smokers can smoke. Non-smokers want to take that away also, and that is what makes me angry. What I have been telling them is to go to Celebrity or Regent which have extremely limited smoking options for smokers.

I hope you enjoy your cruise....
