Taxi vs. Carnival shuttle transfer from Miami airport to cruise ship

I have an upcoming carnival cruise (departure port Miami) and was trying to decide if it will be cheaper to take the carnival transfer bus from Miami aiport or just take a taxi to the cruise ship location.? There will be two of us (with the potential for 4 people total) traveling.

On carnival website the transfer is $16 per person for oneway and $64 per person round trip.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated

Thanks.

If you take the shuttle, a Carnival rep will meet you at baggage. From there, you will go to the shuttle where you will sit and wait for the other flights to come in and fill up the bus. You'll arrive at the port with hordes of others to check in.

You might get lucky and be the last flight to come in and so won't have much of a wait. But then you have to wait for your luggage to be unloaded. You might get lucky there as well and have your luggage come out first.

It's so much nicer to take a taxi.

I actually am booked on the Carnival shuttle ,but after reading this I called to cancel .They said I couldent because you cant cancel within 5 days(Trip is Sunday)

They dont tell you that when they sell it to you.

I'm pretty bent over it and will catch a cab anyway.

I'm landing at miami airport at 5:30 am and cannot board my ship till 10:30. What can I do during that time and can I store my luggage somewhere?

Option #1: Book a room at a budget motel near MIA - La Quinta East is often suggested. Tell the hotel that you will not arrive until about 6:00. When you check in ask about a late check out. Take a nap, shower, maybe a dip in the pool, and then cab to the port about 1:00

Option #2: Shuttle to one of the nicer airport hotels - think about Hilton - tip them to watch your bags while you enjoy a long brunch and a couple of mimosas. Taxi to the port about 10:00

Option #3: Take the Airport Flyer bus to South Beach, pay to store your bags at the luggage lounge, and then grab brunch/drinks and do some people watching until you taxi to POM about 10:00
