rjmontana Posted February 26, 2010 #1 Share Posted February 26, 2010 Family is going on a Western Caribean cruise on the Carnival Valor the week of 4/11/10 and I believe the ports are: Grand Cayman, Isle Roatan, Belize, and Cozumel...Not necessarily in that order.. My question for you experienced cruisers is this, what type of footwear is best suited for activities in most of the ports. Our plan is to try to make the following: snorkling, beaching, ziplining and probably some general walking/shopping. I'd like to get away with one pair of shoes for the above activities that can handle both the land and sea so would have to be something that has comfort, support, handles water and can be worn for most of a days worth of excursion..Maybe some type of open toed, yet full support sandal??? Thanks for the help.. RJ in Montana
Johnthed0g Posted February 26, 2010 #2 Share Posted February 26, 2010 For what it's worth I wear good trainers with soles that have grip...AND proper "technical" socks that wick away perspiration & have cushioned area to avoid blisters.
PattyG12 Posted February 26, 2010 #3 Share Posted February 26, 2010 I got a pair of the Lands End water shoes and found they work wonderfully as sneakers as well. (we bought ours to hike up the falls in Jamaica). I also like to take a pair of flip flops to throw in my beach bag when it's time to be lazy on the beach. diane.in.ny Posted February 26, 2010 #4 Share Posted February 26, 2010 There are lot of good sandels, with good support, that handle the water as well. That's what I take

We took the Lands End water shoes with us on our Sky cruise last month. cb at sea Posted February 26, 2010 #6 Share Posted February 26, 2010 Unless we're actually HIKING, I wear flip-flops or sandals...easy on/easy off....especially at the beaches....
Cruise Girl Forever Posted February 26, 2010 #7 Share Posted February 26, 2010 I always wore sandals. But on my last cruise I took a pair of sketchers. The ones that look like shoes but have the comfort and support of a sneaker. They were wonderful and look cute with everything. For the beach I toss a pair of cheap flip flops in my tote. SuitCaseBears Posted February 27, 2010 #8 Share Posted February 27, 2010 Thanks for the Land's End water shoe recommendation. What makes it even better is the shoes that fit me best are boys' shoes - and they Land's End water shoes come in kids sizes too! Yippee.
FINTUCKYFARMS Posted March 22, 2010 #9 Share Posted March 22, 2010 In the ports where we were doing a water activity, we bought a good pair of water (aqua) shoes, we bought ours at Costco and they were really great. Good support and you could wear them with our without socks. Make sure you read about excursions you go on, some indicate no open toed shoes. Just FYI.
