Booking Excursions online, Pay now or later?

I notice as you reserve an excursion online through the RCCL website, it requires a Credit Card. Does this mean they will charge you then, or will it be charged to your account on the ship once you go on the excursion? What happens if you need to cancel?

Are reservations at Chops treated the same?

If you need to cancel, you can...I think they need 24 hours if you want a refund. It will be refunded to your credit card, if you cancel before you sail. If you cancel on the ship, it goes to your onboard account.
