Hammock on aft balcony?

Recommended Posts

Someone recently posted a pic of themself relaxing in a hammock on a balcony. Wondering if you need any special hardware, or just a hammock and some rope. Does anyone know if this is workable on Explorer?

We have hammocks we use camping and have velcro straps that we purchased at our local sporting goods store to hang our hammocks from trees. You can use rope but you need to be able to make a knot that isn't going to slip once you get your weight into the hammock.

I would be careful about hanging a hammock on a balcony. Don't secure it to the balcony partitions or their brackets or any pipes that might pass through your balcony. You could easily break something that isn't designed to withstand the weight.

Depending on which balcony you have, there is plenty of steel structure to secure your hammock to.

I would suspect that we will soon see hammocks on the prohibited list. Too much of a liability to the cruiseline.
