Self Tour of Bermuda

It really depends on what you want to see and do. I personally love Bermuda. Been there twice, wish I was going back again. People are friendly, a lot of great beaches, a lot of good food. Like anywhere else, just have to be careful/knowledge of your sorroundings. We just went off on our own, saw some beaches, did some shopping.

Here's a good map for an idea where you want to go beach wise..

Now you can also see the Crystal and Fantasy Caves..

Caves are incredible. Something to def. see. Hope this helps

Suggest you take the ferry to Hamilton. It's right at the end of the pier your ship will dock at. It's a pretty 20 minute ride into town.

Enjoy Hamilton as you like and then take the bus back to the Dockyard. Make sure you bus goes via "South Road" (that's where the beatiful South Shore Beaches are). Sit on the left side of the bus for the best ocean views. Ask the driver to let you know when you get to Warwick Long Bay. Get off and see this beautiful natural beach from the overlook.

Go down and walk the beach if you like. Follow the path around the rocks (at the left end of the beach as you face the sea) and visit the pools. They are beautiful. There are no facilities at Long Bay but it is our favorite beach on Bermuda.

Horseshoe Bay is the famous tourist beach on the Island. It's a little further on the bus ride back to the Dockyard. Has facilities and lots of people there....but it also is beautiful & worth a stop.

Enjoy!

Would like to have any suggestions on a self tour of Bermuda. Will be using buses and ferries. We will be docked at King's Wharf and staying 2 days.

Thanks for any help.

If you are a little more specific as to what your interests are, there are a number of things to recommend.

We docked last year in St. Georges which we thought was a really neat place to wander around. Took the ferry to Dockyard, went to the Marine Museum, which was great, then by bus to Hamilton.

We ate lunch at Hamilton at the Hogg Penny Pub which was great, on recommendation of a local in Hamilton and were very glad we did. It was more than we usually pay for a pub meal, but well worth it.

After wandering around a little we took another bus back to St. Georges. The bus was kind of slow, with lots of stops, but that allows you to see so much of the island. We really enjoyed it. The ferry was faster, but you don't see anything.

We had bought a one-day pass and it was very convenient. In St. Georges we enjoyed walking through ,the graveyard at an old church, going through some shops and also a visit to Lili's Perfumery which is just a few blocks from the dock. They also have horse-drawn carriages there.

We had a great time, hope you do, too.

We visited Bermuda about 3 years ago and are returning in May with our son and his wife. We visited the Bermuda Gardens which were free and wonderful. If you enjoy gardens, it is well worth the visit. They are located outside of Hamilton near their hospital. We got their by bus. Have a wonderful time!
