Any embarkation perks associated with suite stateroom

Hello - my husband and I will be on the Zuiderdam on 4/10 and have booked SS suite 8084. Are there any special arrangements for embarkation? Separate check in line? Do we get on sooner than other classifications? Anything? Thank you all in advance!

There will be a Suite check in line they will direct you to. If you are in line waiting to check in and no HAL rep asks if anyone is in a Suite, speak up when one passes by you.

If Embarkation has not yet begun, you will be given a Priority tag to clip on your shirt which indicates you can board as soon as they start embarkation. If they are already embarking when you check in, you will go right along aboard.

When we boarded the "O" last week they had a sign saying, "SUITES" and people with suites booked got into that line.

We just get there early and seem to have no line to worry about anyhow.;)

HOWEVER, those boarding when we left had a long wait because someone didn't report to Immigration and we were just over two hours late beginning disembarkation; we couldn't begin until he woke up or something. Finally someone got on the "horn" and told him he was holding up over 2,000 people; I think his buddies woke him up and got him where he needed to be. I felt badly for the Room Stewards who had to make up the cabins because most people were waiting in their cabins all that time.

We've been on two HAL cruises, SA both times. We did get into the line for suite PAX, but now I'm wondering if we should have stood in the looooong line to get TO the line for the suite pax. In Ft. Lauderdale, we stood outside the building for a long time. I was on chemo and had little energy. It would have been nice to go on in to the shorer suite line. Is that how it works? Or do we do right standing in the outside line as long as it took.

In May, we'll be departing Seattle for another Alaska trip, SA cabin. And once again, I am on chemo and will not have a lot of energy. So I am wondering again about expediting my wait. Thanks!

Stop any red jacketed HAL person who passes by you while you are in the outdoor line and mention you are in a suite, are having difficulty standing in the line and it is likely they will escort you to the Suite line indoors.

Best wishes. Hope your treatments are kind to you and fully successful.

Enjoy your cruise.

Thanks, Sail! After seeing the typos in my message, I'm surprised you knew what I was talking about. :-) I appreciate the suggestion and your kind words. We are also taking my parents on this cruise, celebrating their 60th anniversary. They might have more energy than I do!

In the event it hasn't occured to you, it might be a good idea to request a wheel chair just for boarding process. It would really smooth your way and not tax your precious energy. It is easily arranged and if saves energy for you to expend on more fun things than standing in line, why not think about it?

It is so special you have a wonderful HAL cruise to celebrate your parents' milestone anniversary to look forward to. Hopefully, it will get you over some rough spots. It sure helped me when the going got rough after extremely serious surgery. I brought two postcards to the hospital with me....... one of Noordam and one of Maasdam (our two favorites) and when I needed a lift, I took out those postcards and they sure did get me through the day. :)

Again, best wishes.
